Hey everyone. I have been lurking around for a while and decided to finally register. I am interested in buying or bulding a F16. I am kind of set on a Blade based in large part on what I have read. Can anyone clue me in? I am really leaning toward building one......something about building the boat makes you bond with the boat. Any how help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Are you willing to spend thousands of hours building? do you have the time? committment? and tools? even resources?

Have you built anything this big in the past?

I guess it is a matter of outweighing your options. As far as budget goes, what you save in building yourself, you will spend on the time it will take you to get there.

One boat I would love to build, purely for fun, is a Dragon Class.

That is one good looking design.

There is a really good article on thebeachcats.com about building a Blade. Check that out for more info. Don't have the link handy. I'll look for it if you cannot find it.

A big job and I respect people that can do it. I am more of an immediate satisfaction kind-a-person.

Also, if you decide not to build - the classifieds on this site has quite a few used F16s.

I understand that.....however the lengthy projects I have worked on in the past (cars, construction projects, boats)made me appreciate the results more. By article do you mean the photo album?
And in response, no I am not sure I ready to invest the time. Thats why I want to evaluate all options.

How to build an A-Cat, you can use these techniques to determine feasability of make vs. buy for the F16.

Best method is to buy the hulls and then finish the boat yourself.

This is by far the quickest way of homebuilding and the most enjoyable one. It will leave plenty of stuff to do yourself while getting rid of building your own hulls which is a big portion of the work.

Consider that.

In the way of getting on the water or cost savings just buy a second hander or buy new and work evenings in the local bar. Less stressful and cheaper that way.

After feb 2007 some 11 Blades will hit the second hand market as then the Alter Cup will have been completed. Maybe that is of interest ?
