I didn't even know there was an old forum

Is this the new or old forum?

Keep it for comedy relief... I think it's fun. I voted that I would visit Catsailor just as often even without it, but I don't think that addresses the question. Just don't take it seriously and it's a hoot.

I agree with John, to a point. The old forum is intertaining and funny until it becomes a tool for personal attacks. A newcomer checking out the site for the first time could be put off by the negativity. It's a shame it has to come to this but I think it may be doing more harm than good.

I also watch a GMC Motorhome list (my regatta home)... While anonymity is not the cause, the "old" list has degraded by personal attacks so that most of the positive, knowledgable contributers have left the board. They have started another board "new" on a competitive site with restrictive entry. Now I only go to the old site infrequently, and most honest discussion goes on the new list. I have also seen the exact migration on a motorcross board.



So, while these old lists may be entertaining for some, they rarely contribute positively to the sport/interest they were design to support.



Maybe the desired result is to remove the old board so that those on the pole that won't return don't return. JMO

I've honestly been impressed with the maturity level and help that this forum has provided. I hate it when forums degenerate into a place where the weak-minded take out their fustrations on opposing-viewpoints.

The old forum should go. Let them create another place to whine about the f-18s. If I wanted to hear that type of discourse I would watch the Jerry Springer show. What happened to sailing being a sport of the thinking man? Seems NASCAR and WWF is creeping in.

the question is a bit loaded. Why didn't you merely ask,

'do you want us to shut down the old forum?'

And have a 'yes' or 'no' answer.



I mean, I think you should leave the thing running, but I wouldn't quit hitting your website if you took the old forum down.



The question as you state it doesn't have that option. I mean, it seemed to me to say that it was an either/or kinda thing and it's really not that way. People won't quit going to your site if you take the old forum down but it's pretty obvious that the old forum gets a lot of action, which in itself should answer your doubts about whether to leave it up.



Leave it, but don't blow a whole lot of time on it, how about that?
