Hello everybody, Since the 5th of January we are living in Auckland, New Zealand and we enjoy it very much. The container with our belongings arrives (if all goes well) on the 8th of March, wich will hold my brand new Blade(hopefully without damage) If al goes well I will have some spare time to put the beast together! My question is to the New Zealand catsailors (Scarecrow ao), where can I buy a good trailer or borrow one? And where are you people sailing? I saw a few cats at the Royal Akarana Yacht Club, can you store your cat there? Is it well protected there?
last sunday(the 18th) I went to the 2007 multihull boatshow in Viaduct Harbour, Auckland. There I met Bruce Kendall who had his Tornado on display, it was nice to talk to him.
So please New Zealand (Auckland) catsailors give me some advice about trailers and where to sail from.
attached is a picture of the blade going into the container.

If they have room for you Akarana its the place to be for your type of boat. If you join the club and say you're going to be racing they'll find a spot.
With regards to a trailer some of the F18 guys should be able to help you out. The Hobie Tiger on the right as you walk into the boat park (not the one marked eat-sleep-sail, which is my old boat) is owned by Mark who also has a Hobie 16. He has been known to use the 16 trailer to move his Tiger. He's a really nice guy and I'm sure he'll be happy to help you. Alternately talk to Jono and Steve on Sony Ericson (Nacra), they don't have a trailer but the previous owner of their boat does and they have access to it. The third alternative is Simon, he has the A cat near the toilet block and an elliot 5.9. Simon uses a modified Tornado trailer for his A, but he doesn't store the boat on it so it might be available too. There are some big sheds at the end of RAYC in which we assembled our boat when it arrived, there is no harm in asking if you can use them. Go into the club and talk to Penny about what you're after, she should be able to give you contact numbers for the guys. If you don't have any luck ask for my old crew Matt Woodley, he doesn't have a trailer but I'm sure he'll do his best to sort you out.
I hope this is helpfull but as I now live in Aus, its the best I can do.
Oh yea, I used to post as Scarecrow.
Regards
Tuck.

Thanks a lot Tuck, I won't need any space to put the blade together because I'm the lucky owner(rent) of a garage which can store 4 cars. Again thanks a lot for all the info. I probably will visit the RAYC tomorrow and have a closer look.

I'm a bit uncertain as to what I'm going to do with respect to boats. I had to sell the F18 before I came back because I only owned half of it (and needed the cash injection to offset shipping out gear home). But I've narrowed the list for next season down to:
T F18 F16 A Cat Moth
I've drawn up most of a set of plans for a home built F16 and F18 so I'll probably end up building one of those two, to varify the design and allow me to include "how to" photos in the plan set.
I'm living in Melbourne, I actually thought of coming down your way for the Marley Point, but when I cecked the dates I discovered I was double booked.
Oh yea, I'm back as Scarecrow (thanks Rick)

This weekend I went to pick u my Blade F16 made by Hans Klok. I hope to sail it end of March.
We went with a Nacra 6.0 trailer and the Blade wasn't high enough to fit over the storage for the sails, so we had to put it upside-down ! (Thank you Hans for the idea). I have bought an old trailer which I will have to rebuilt (must be ready for the Global Challenge). I wonder if anyone has good idea's for a trailer and maybe some pictures.
Actually only some photos in that thread only. there was a thread about different types of trailers. I'll look for it. it had pix from US-California, US-Arkansas, Oz and other places. It was debating the traditional "cradle trailer" versus the "beam resting/hanging method" of building trailers.
"Codblow" came up with a cheap solution at about 1am in the morning whilst sinking a few cans and eating stilton cheese and cream crackers at Grafham's UK Cat Singlehanded Champs (2006). Buy a cheap second hand small caravan, skip, trash, throw away the superstructure and amend the chassis. After that conversation we started on the Bombay mix!!

Hallo Gilo, delivery of my blade is expected for march, so i hope to start this years sailing season soon. I'm feeling very ambitious with the new Blade, but there are some steps to Zandvoort: First I'll need as much practise as I can get to keep the Blade in all circumstances under control. Then i have to gain experience in some regattas in northern germany. We have insufficient numbers for an F16 field,so i have to sail in the open class. If my learning curve is steep as expected, participation at the Global Challenge will be a real challenge for me, but chances are good. More later...

I had the pictures since they were here the first time on the thread and I used them to send them to trailer builders here in Auckland. It's a beautifull trailer and I would like one like that, do you have measurements of this trailer?
