Catsailor.com Gator Bowl Regatta
Here's the link to the regatta web site:
http://gatorbowl.home.comcast.net Entry form, NOR, lodging, etc. are listed.
There is already a class for the A-cats, and it sounds like we have verbals from enough F-18s to make a class, too. Me and Tina are sailing together for this one. Olli and Kelli are in, and Doug Klem is coming, too - that's three Caps in your butt.
Chime in.

Where is the attendee list posted?
Thanks

Hi Dave and Doug -
I don't think there is an attendee list posted - I think we're just doing a roll call here and on 1Design. No preregistration is required, but you can if you want to; go to the site and pull up the NOR to get the PRO's address (see "Advance Registration"), print out the entry form, and mail it in. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
Regattas are FREE to Rudder Club members. They had to explain that to me twice while I was standing at the registration table in September with my jaw on the floor. Only $20 for US SAILING members for two days of racing, but was still a nice surprise.
Sounds like there will be a class of Nacra 20s as well, thanks to Trey and his PR machine. My house is filling up quick. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

I'd like to try to attend, but my crew cannot make it. Know anyone up there that would like to crew on an I-20 for the weekend? PM with any leads.
Thanks!

Unfortunately I can't make it. Gotta pay for a speeding ticket, and I'm getting shipped out to SoCalifornia the weekend after, so I need to spend some time with the wifey since we don't see each other during the day :P

Double stack of Infusions at Key Sailing ready to roll. Unfortunately I won't be able to bring a 3rd from Pcola to this one. Hope to make it down to Islamorada though.
Kick some Candicorn butt boyz!

The Velocity Sailing Nacra 20 is ready to roll as well. It seems we may be the only 20 down there though...

Come on, now, this is going TOO FAR! <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
Rounding a buoy is OK, taking a gate is fine as well. But to have to enter a regatta code every time you pass through a gate will make the C mark impossible in a crowd! What's next, a breath test at the A mark?

KHHHHHHHAAAAAAANNNNNN!!!!!!
Posted By: John Williams Re: Gator Bowl Regatta - 12/04/06 03:19 AM
Results:
1st - Olli and Kelly Jason on a Capricorn F18
2nd - Chris Cordes on an A2 A-Class
3rd - John Williams and Tina Pastoor on a Capricorn F18
4th - Mark Smith and Charles Harp on a Nacra Infusion F18
Light air, but we got seven races in. Eight cats shared the course with Snipes and Flying Scots. The F18 smack-talk was hysterical - it was the Crapricorns vs the Implosions. There were two of each, but one of the Implosions sat out the last three races, giving the series to Team Crapricorn. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

HERE.It was the club's first time using SailWave and I have not checked their work yet. I think scoring will go smoother and quicker in the future. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

You need Adobe reader to open the file... free download from Adobe.com <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

John E. volunteered to check up on the scoring and did a fine job with Sailwave. Thanks John. I hope you can convince more Catsailor readers-- and any others to attend the MANY Rudder Club events in Jacksonville. RC has an excellent spacy venue, great location, well-run regattas using all volunteers, and has been ignored for some time by the sadly dwindled number of cat racers. Note RC has an inexpensive out-of town membership, meaning no entry fee for racing.
As a shiny new JAX resident, I personally hope John is able to Crank It Up! Let me and other A-cat sailors from Gainesville know what to do to help.
WHAT... you are not spending all your energy promoting the one design A Class fleet.... Sacrilage <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
The notion that you support a yacht club that supports cat racing should be the underlying principle for all sailors in the USA ...
Kudo's for getting your class memembers to support these clubs ... IMO They are our hope for the future! (Adult and Junior sailing /racing programs)

Not to mention a $20 entry fee, which gets you dinner Saturday and lunch on Sunday.
Awesome!

It was a lot of fun in Jax. It would be a little tough to hold a regatta with 20+ cats though, as there really isn't much room to store them after racing for the day. I had a great time blasting through the packs of mono-slugs as well! Light winds and a long road trip ahead made us decide to pack it up and leave on Sunday morning.

They seem to manage the space for the Mug Race. It would work out a LOT better if people could park outside the compound on regatta weekends.

Yes, the 1st time. Trey's episode was at Outback. You guys have a knack for high scale allergic reactions ... is it Columbia?
Posted By: MauganN20 Re: Gator Bowl Regatta - 12/05/06 07:39 PM
Its the only place that both of us had allergic reactions identical to each other, separated by exactly 1 year to the day.
Freaky huh?

The RC has handled upwards of 200 cats recovering them off the river during the Annual Mug Race: trailerable monohulls generally arrive later. There is space outside the fence too. With cooperation of attending sailors, it works. Smaller groups work too. All they need is --- more sailors, young--- and old <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />.
