Stiletto 23'

Stiletto 23' - 03/06/07 07:06 PM

I have a Stiletto 23' located on LCO in Hayward, WI. The mast was bent in half during a windstorm when the jib unfurled and flipped it over. The Hulls are in good shape but the tramps and mast are trashed. I want to downsize and was wondering if anyone has any interest in buying this boat.

Mike,
I know nothing about the Stilleto 23.
What is the boat made from wood?

Just curious.

Phill

I thought they were made from nomex core.

that could have just been the 30' though.

Stiletto 23 is fiberglass of some sort -- definitely not wood. And at one point, if I recall right, it had a Portsmouth rating the same as the Tornado. That was before spinnakers. Anyway, it is a fast boat.

I have a line on a relatively cheap S23, any thoughts on this boat? I couldnt find the post(about a year ago) that someone was talking about getting a Carbon Mast, did that ever happen?
thanks

That one in Columbia? I had my buddy looking at that one not too long ago. Sounds like a great project boat!

Randy's boat in Charlotte. Lots of new stuff, boat is dirty but lightly sailed. And you know how Randy does things, and its a steal.

I put a Forte carbon mast , dynex dux standing rigging, new hooter/screecher, carbon spin pole on my 23. sails like a dream, really fast, but it has to blow over 15 to get really interesting. I love it. Sailed against Corsairs/RC 27 and many modified S27's-30's at Florida suncoast multihull rendesvous. When it blew, only the RC was faster. Boat rated 0 and sailed that # when it blew over 15, but in light stuff i got killed by boats with more waterline.

Hopefully there'll be a beach cat class at this great event next year. Sarasota is a great place to sail

Got the first one ok. For some reason the last two don't seem to have been attached properly.

Im thinking of buying Alan Bruce's SC 20 Tall rig and putting it on there. Its not Carbon, but its brand new, and has new Calvert sails and a new Smythe spin. Not sure if that would work though, what do you engineer types think?

Re: Stiletto 23' - 12/13/07 02:09 PM

no boom yet, but I did add reef points, so I have to come up with one soon. Other thing I cam e across in rehabbing...Nearly lost the rig because the U-bolt for the bridle on the port side off the boat sheered off one side (rust, the bolt is from 1985) and began pulling out. Thankfully got the boat home without dropping the rig, but to all S23 owners who have kept there boat in salt water, I would consider replacing those bad boys..

I saw your boat in Sarasota in October at the Multihull Rendezvous. It looked nice. Welled laid out.

Like us, you seemed to do better when the wind came up.
