I just bought a Harken 57mm carbo ratcha-matic triple. Are these worth the money, or should I send it back?

well, unless its got a cleat on it you wont be using it for a mainsheet block.

You could use it for a mainsheet block then as long as not ALL of the sheeves are auto-ratchetting.

All The sheaves? I have no clue. Probably not I'm guessing. I'll find that out when I get it. Should be just the sheave behind the cleat that ratchet right? What would be the disadvantage if they all did? Too hard of a grab?

Relax, Harken knows what they are doing and you will be very happy with that block setup.

I get all nervous spending that kind of money on something that doesn't include a "happy" ending. Well come to think of it, I nervous with those too.

No using it for a 5:1 system. I also bought a 40mm double with becket for the upper block and 5/16 sheet

I like the standard (non-carbo) for the lower.
Your upper doesn't need a becket, assuming it's a carbo, dead end the sheet through the center of the block.
Send it all back and save a couple bucks...oops shipping may be more than what you'll save.
Why didn't you ask Rick or Reb first?
You trying to sneak up on them? <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

I'm not even sailing my 14 Todd B is. Me and Ben W are racing the 16. I probably won't race the 14 except at nationals this year. I'm over my buyers anxiety. I'll be fine.

Don't know if you are an idiot, nor whether or not you'll like your new blocks. But one thing I do know; that penquin clip cracks me up!

Nothing like a good penquin "smack-down" <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Of course there is a Guinness advert on the subject <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I've loved having the ratcha-matics on everything I've used them on - jib sheets, spin sheets, and main sheets. No more flipping the stupid little lever for light conditions. Do remember that you can tune the amount of pressure needed to invoke the ratchet, tweak 'em until you like 'em...
