comfortable womens sailing shorts - 04/02/07 05:53 PM

Looking for suggestions on womens shorts to wear under trap harness. My wife has tried just a swimsuit and short boardshorts but neither of them are truely comfortable. What do the ladies find most comfortable?

I stopped reading after the first sentence because I was laughing so hard.

Then I read it was for his wife, and I sort of felt let down....

I found my padded bicycle shorts very comfotable by accident one day. I had just returned from a ride and since it was blowing, I went straight to the cat, no time to change and I was already wet with sweat, so I just pulled my harness on over the shorts and went sailing. Great padding right where you need it! And the harness slips right on, much easier than swim shorts. So check out the women's bike short selection, you can probably find her some pink ones.

If you do go for bike shorts get the bibs. They're much more comfortable. Voler has some good ones. http://www.velowear.com/

I did too.

Eileen usually sails in long wetsuit and uses a Polypropolene Diving undergarment with the tank pad taken out of the back. If it is warmer out she will sail in just the polypro skin with no wetsuit. In even warmer she has a very thin shorty wetsuit with longsleeve arms and uses workout shorts that look like biking shorts, with no saddle cushion, underneath.

Funny that someone writes "comfortable womens shorts" and the thing that imediately pops into my mind is James Brown.

From the F16 forum, this photo shows what's comfortable for the skipper to have his crew wear. Note the PDF, the kind with flotation that will float her face up.

Something about a camel....

Good thing it wasn't Sir Mix-A-Lot and Baby Got Back.

Just read the first sentence only from the perspective of the (male) writer.

There really isn't anything any too comfortable

Try a draped garment. Also known as:
sarong
lava-lava
dhoti
lunghi

Or use a harness with the leg wraps rather than straps. Probably restricts movement too much for bouy racing, but man they're sweet for distance...

That's funny, I wouldn't want any of my crews to wear that. But as long as you boys want to distract yourselves, that's fine with me. See you at the finish line.

P.S.

This is extremely insulting and also the kind of thing that keeps women off of the forum. Not the F word, Mary.

Maybe nothing wrong with the chick. The "ick" factor was added.

I really like short board-shorts, but that's just me. I don't like looking down at any bulges and I especially don't like to feel wet. Board shorts dry quickly. Tell your wife to try on a good brand (O'Neill, Patagonia) with bikini panties underneath.

Re: comfortable womens sailing shorts - 04/04/07 01:25 PM

Not sure. Would that picture be the male equivalent of a "hootchie-mamma"?

Himbo?
Mangina?
Prancer?

I have nothing against the human form (male or female), but if you're going to flaunt it, at least be of the shape/condition that is reasonably "accepted" by mainstream society.

And my view of "mainstream" society isn't fond of bulemic stick figures or grossly obese sweathogs.

Being oblivious to other cultures (not to be confused with ethno-centric or xenophobic), I'm not sure how much body hair/fur is acceptable for males/females.

If sex or sexual behavior doesn't influence people, then explain its proponderance in all forms of media and communication THROUGHOUT HISTORY...

All I wanted was suggestions on shorts, not pictures of crotches and cameltoes! How did we get here?
Posted By: waterbug_wpb

Re: comfortable womens sailing shorts - 04/04/07 02:11 PM

Shorts cover crotches? Perhaps?

No idea how it got like this, but we'll all here pontificating rather than sailing, so the conversation is bound to wander all over the place.
