Check this site out. It is great for forcasting winds (Speed and azimuth). It is tailored for aviation sports but works well. Are there any Sailing specific weather sites that work well?

Your right flatlander. usairnet is probably still the best for inland.

I really like the way these sites "package" regularly available modeling data. It's only good if you know the strength/weaknesses of each model. Some work better in different latitudes, built to find certain patterns, etc.
Have fun figuring it all out!

Damn good point Mr. Curry.
I use the site I listed to pick the help pick the best day and time to go recreational sailing. The fun begins when forecasting for regattas and possibly having an advantage by knowing which way to go.
Although basic principles apply, small inland lake racing pales by comparison to being on coastal waters.
Does anyone know the title of the book by the English author regarding forecasting and sailing? Retired military weatherman wrote it for his inspiring brother who taught him to sail dinghies. Circa 1950's?
