Local Knowledge needed for sailing Destin, FL - 05/31/07 02:27 AM

I'm spending the week in Destin June 2-9 at a house a block from the (gulf side) beach.

I would appreciate hearing from locals or experienced visitors about my options for getting the boat on the water and sailing each day.

Here is my location, the house position is marked with an X in the fourth pic in this album. http://tinyurl.com/2f67g2

The ideal scenario would be to have the boat fully rigged on the Gulf beach just a short walk from the house (carrying sails and blocks). This may not be possible since that beach is completely lined with condos. I plan to go door to door and see if there is a catamaran friendly owner/renter that will let me leave the boat up against their house for the week.

If that isn't possible the next best would be mast up on the beach somewhere else a short drive away (with parking).

If that isn't possible then mast up on the trailer.

If that isn't possible, then screw it, I'll dive for sand dollars all week and leave the boat home.

If anyone can meet up for a sail that week, let me know. Here's my cell number in reverse order to mess up google.

I'm really looking forward to a week of relaxed white sand sailing. Before I started going to regattas this was a regular thing.

One week later and you can do Round The Island on the 16th and use the FWYC facilities. I am going to Destin 11th.
