ok...lets hear the story of how that happened, because I'm pretty sure that my tiller can't bend like that.

This is the way Fedx delivered it. Is something wrong?

Man I'm jealous! You've got the new "Flex Tiller" all the hot shots want!

Some people have all the luck.

You sure you didn't mistake it for a new dolphin striker. Looks to have the same degree of bend.

I bet they charged extra for that too!

Tubes and FedEx just don't seem to get along. I've gotten two shipments that look just like yours. Shippers need to attach them to 2x4s.

I have a tube that is about to be shipped to me, but it is an 8 foot long aluminum tube. Lets hope they don't bend it like that.

Where there's a will there's a way. Have the shipper insert a 1x2 piece of doug fir.

Here's a spin pole DHL shipped to me. Custom end design. Isn't that special?

You guys have me scared now, it is my spin pole and I am spending alot of money on it and the other stuff coming with it.

I might have the shipper place something inside it, but it also might alread be in the mail.

It made more sense to go from Eustis to Cape Coral and then to JPOR, than to stop at GYC. 'sides, now I can do a little work and take funny pitchers.

Vinny, it's too precious to sell! I'll trade you for some used bottom paint.

Re: Tiller for sale - 09/23/07 12:10 PM

I bought a set of battens from e-bay for a 18 Hobie. He put them in PVC pipe, it cost more for shippin than the battens themselves~~~ I have 1 set of batt's and not 2.. Ask yer shipper how much extra it would cost.. It might be worth it.

Back in the TheMightyHobie18 days tillers had a very limited life span as they easily fell under the rudder and bent backwards. The best I found was a 3/4" x 18# titanium tube. It was light and strong and would flex quite a long way without kinking and then sprung back every time. Corrosion was a non issue too

TM,
Would you mind revealing where you sourced the Titanium tube.

Regarding shipping.

If you're dealing with an individual or conciencious shipper, suggest schedule 40 PVC conduit. Not unbreakable but one hell of a lot stronger than cardboard.

I would check out local sources for aluminum tubes before buying spin pole, tiller extensions, etc.

In CT you can go to Dwyer for aluminum and Forte for carbon.
