Cat Cover for yard storage, Any suggestions?

Cat Cover for yard storage, Any suggestions? - 11/09/07 11:57 AM

New Cat on order, I used to have a Cat with a cover and found it valuable for keeping UV and grime off the boat. It seemed to prolong stiffness and appearence of the cat. I am looking for suggestions on current catamaran cover manafactures. Anyone have good bad experience with a cover type or cover supplier?

Try Kinder Industries. . VectorWorks uses them for F16 covers. Very industrial strength.

Kinder made me a cover that just covered the tramp and the beams and it was approx $150 (dont quote me on that, I cant remember the exact price.)

They will make you a custom cover so you can spend less, I think a full cover is sometimes overkill.

I know I posted this before on this topic - call you local Lamar rep or some other company that owns billboards. They have literally hundreds of heavy poly signs that are just sitting in a yard somewhere near you. They make great, free covers. Yellow pages.

Salty Dog Marine (saltydogmarine.com) used to make them. Not listed on their website currently, but it's worth a call.

There's two guys in our club who had covers made by the local tent/awning repair shop. Might be worth calling whover is listed in your yellow pages.

John, I tried that. Dude made me feel like a turd but said they usually keep them and use them underneath the other one for padding. Said to call back in a couple months. Never did though...

Make sure to poke some holes in it so water doesn't pool.

For just using a tarp do like the trailerable mono people do. Use the mast to make sort of a tent. Lace up the ends, it should shed snow/water well enough. You'd want it good and tight so it isn't flapping around and scuffing up your boat, but that would be the case even just wrapping up the boat flat anyway.

Buy an advertising sign. Printed on uv proof fabric and costs alomost nothing.
Often 6 metres x 12 metres. Lay over cat with mast down. Draw lines a little furhter out than wanted for a seemed edge. Draw in cutouts for bow, corners of stern etc and the stays and whatever. Take that one piece to an industrial sewer and a bit of velcro and a few grommits will create a very cheap, fitted cover.
