Yeah, must add tunes. The original of this has the sound of the boat and water, and at one point we yell "starboard" to an A-Cat, but all that went away getting it uploaded. Still playing with this...

Hero 3, strapped to my wrist.

Comes in a nice little case.

I don't mess with the strap options to flip the camera up to view through it, I leave it fixed to my wrist and just aim my wrist towards the view. However, when I need my hand to tend the boat the scene goes all over!

We got this for Tybee, but like a lot of things at Tybee we didn't get this going. I started playing with it at the end of last sailing season, got a bunch of shots, some on the trimaran. The native .avi looks a lot better than what it looks like once it makes it to YouTube. I need to find a better upload method. The surprise to me was that the camera does sound even in the case. I turned up the sound watching some of the videos and got to hear the on the boat chatter (ask Alec, I babble A LOT out loud all the stuff running through my mind about situations).

The guys from Go-Pro Camera have developed a few new accessories to mount the camera to a helmet or other surface (w/suction cup).

Anybody tried mounting one on top of the dagger board? Would be good going downwind.

K, was that Alec trimming main is the first video?

We are bringing a Go-Pro cam on our Philippines sojourn. The 2 things I have learned so far is to keep it as still as possible, and when it is time to move the view, do so slowly.

Any tips on taking great shots would be helpful.

It takes a lot of shots to get great shots. I haven't been doing so well lately, but keeping the camera rolling as long as possible as often as possible is the sure fire way to get a few great shots. I'm still kicking myself over not putting fresh batteries in my Hero3 the morning of the 1st day of tradewinds....I had put fresh batteries in the night before but apparently I left it on and it was dead when I went to turn it on. It missed some spectacular scenes.

Does anyone have a good HD tv setup? What would be the best way to do HD? Just get a HD camera and then put it in a watertight case?

In the second video I edited an interesting little happening out. We were about to go double-trapped with the spin, Alec was already on the wire - as I went to go out on the wire he mentions to me I should trim the jib a bit first. I start to go in, loose my handhold, and go skidding forward on the tramp. Camera is running the whole time, and you get to see the daggerboard go by on the right side - would have been great to see that from the daggerboard's view!

Chris, yes that is Alec trimming the main! Nothin' left for me these days but driving, falling off, or skidding across the tramp!

Jake - you're on the money about how to get good shots! I've got a bunch of footage that will only ever be interesting to me...

Yep, that was me trimming. Chris can you believe it? I still giggle thinking about the time you asked me to trim the main for you. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

As I recall:

"Hey, trim this."
"What, thats your job."
"#@$% that, trim this."
"The skipper does that on my boat."
"If you haven't noticed, you are not on your boat, trim it."
"Keith doesn't make me trim main."
"I'm not as good as Keith, trim it!"
"Fine." Crank and tosses line.
"Why did you do that?"
"You said to trim it, I trimmed it."
You set it, not trimmed it. Oh #$%^, lets get out on the traps"
glug glug glug.

Man thats fun remembering our little exchange. Also, did you even get wet on the capsize? Good times:)
