doesn't look like there will be much wind for it... but then again, the forecasts are wrong 80% of the time. Call Key and check.

What about M. Smith (N20)?
Posted By: JMAC

Re: Performance Midwinters Attendee List - 03/03/08 02:14 PM

Mark Smith's boat will be on the line, Mark with be on Race Committe/Beverage Management. He will have plenty of ice cold silver cans available. I'm talking about Diet Coke now!

Anyway, add 2 more 20's to the list, possibly another 17, and possibly a couple more F16's.

Re: Performance Midwinters Attendee List - 03/03/08 02:19 PM

Wish I could make it, but my 20 isn't class legal atm, its got a automatic water scooper built into the bow that I'm having some smart dude replace so that I conform with class rules again :P

Re: Performance Midwinters Attendee List - 03/03/08 02:41 PM

ah, just stay on one tack and the scooper doesn't come into play.... I'll by some marine tex for you if you feel you absolutely must tack.

i am going out tomorrow and can let you know. A friend went out recently with farmer john and said all was well. Last time I was down here- end of jan- I wore full 3/2 wetsuit with a spray suit over and it was nice but the water is like 7 or so degrees warmer now. I don't think I will be comfy in a shorty tomorrow... but who knows.

Re: Performance Midwinters Attendee List - 03/05/08 04:19 AM

How many F18's are really coming? I don't want to drive 12 hours to sail in a 3 boat fleet. Come on F18's sign up.

20-25 is when I really start to enjoy my boat. I wish we those winds this weekend in Galveston. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Re: Performance Midwinters Attendee List - 03/08/08 01:48 PM

i like high wind too... but when it gets over 25 it is a little much, especially solo.

Re: Performance Midwinters Attendee List - 03/08/08 03:02 PM

Nasty cold front pushing through the SE today. Bringing Snow and stuffs. My house wont stop shaking from the wind.

Re: Performance Midwinters Attendee List - 03/08/08 08:45 PM

I can certainly understand being overwelmed solo in that kind of wind. But my fat 215 and my crews fat 210 likes big wind so we can both trap and make lots of spray. It all relative right? Just like two grand is nothing to Bill Gates but its alot of money to me.

Re: Performance Midwinters Attendee List - 03/09/08 01:53 AM

Winds backed down to 10-20 after noon, some radical wind shifts made for some major position shifts in the fleets. Couple of folks flipped and couple collisions. Nacra 20's showed the other fleets where gains could be made. Race committee managed to get in 3 races before the temps started dropping. F16's and F17's shared a nice big start.

Billy Bob's BBQ disappeared quickly, and the coolers stayed full of cold beverages for all.

Hope to get 2-3 more races in tomorrow.

Good news !

Together we are better suited to hold the decline of cat sailing then each on his own.

It was F16, F17, and F18 in the same start as a single "open" fleet.
