Nacra mainbeam and dolphin striker - 03/31/08 08:36 PM
I have recently reassembled the main beam on my Nacra 5.8. The original mast bolt was bent and needed replacing. I need to know how to tension the striker and what torsion should the main beam have. Anyone know?

Thanks for the reply mummp.
Where did you get that information? Since I am reassembling the cat, I would find that source valuable.
How would you measure a prebend of 3/8"?

Make a straight line from end to end of crossbeam, without mast in place. The ends of crossbeam should be lower than middle by amount of prebend.

Tobin,
Keep it simple, with no load on the beam your beam should be level and/or "straight", then simply screw the lower nut up 3/8 in. and then tighten your upper nut. Just curious, after you straightened the rod, did you put a compression tube back inside the beam? If you did I hope you marine greased the snot out of it. . .

Where the stainless sleeve comes into contact with the aluminum crossbar due to electrolosys (sp) that will occour there.
