Should I replace it with the screw together style available through our host or take it to a sailmaker to have new ones installed?

Sail maker will probably cost you $100 + parts.

I swapped out pocket caps that were rivited on with ones that were held together with SS bolts and used Locktite. They lasted for at least eight years when I finally replaced the sails.

Well I went to North Sails and asked for a quote. they basically didn't want to mess with it as it would get expensive fast with all 9 batten luff pockets. However, they did order up 8 baten pockets by Bainbridge? the 300 series I think. Anyhow they are lots tougher than the rubbery ones that are crumbling. I replaced the tack batten luff with the 6 bolt style and think I'm going to get a lot of life out of this old sail. It was easy enough to do myself, and the locktite idea is a good one--thanks!
