I guess the bathtubs with a mast don't make hearts jump and people want to go do it.

The picture rotates among the different classes. I got the women's 470, hit refresh and got Nick Scandone on the SKUD-18.

You just got lucky.

Odd ? Not really.

They are not against catamarans, you know, they just favour the mono's for any serieus events.

We make great photo material but we just have the realize our place in the grant scheme of things.

And that place is below any old boy monoslug that looks no newer then 1970.

It is still a point of bewilderment at the high echelons of US sailing and ISAF why we were are ungrateful.

Wouter,

I think you are right in your thinking about what "they" think "serious events" are. I dont think it is malice, just no interest. Much like me and monohulls, I dont get excited about them. But looking at a Formula28 like http://www.linderson.com/xoz/ gets me going. I guess it works both ways, with some sailors mingling with both. Problem is one.. culture(??) have all the power.

I think USSA has a lot of DAMN NERVE to put Tornado pix on that site after working hard to knock them out of the Olympics. THERE IS NO SENSITIVITY IN USSA! An old story comes to mind--- of the recalcitrant mule, and the nearby consultant who smashes said mule over the head with a heavy wooden 2x4 timber. "HEY", shrieks the farmer. "Why did you hit my mule over the head like that". Said the consultant, "With a mule, first you have to get his attention".

Since there seems to be no procedural way to get the attention of the unresponsive mules who direct USSA, I will continue to boycott USSA events, cutting off my nose to spite my face...right, JW?
Irony? @$#^%%(*&^ Unbelievable!
In German it sounds better- "Unglaublich"!

Dave, I'd never ever ever never criticize anyone for choosing your path - it is a legitimate form of protest. The Board and the Olympic Sailing Committee very well understand that this is a period of "show me," and that it will take tangible and focused effort to win back those of us who have left the ranks. I hope there will be some of that stuff on display soon.

Incidentally, the Tornado pic on the membership cards was out before the Olympic thing happened. I tried to get one, but missed out.

Seems kind of redundant to have both the Finn and the Laser, but no multihull, or is it just me?

I just filled the surf city truck with biodiesel and it was $160...but less than petrolium...whatever.

I don't know if it's happening where you live, but here there are so many freaking scooters, mopeds, bikes with little two strokes, motorcycles, and all sorts of small vehicles hitting the streets. Pretty soon it's going to look like the streets of Denpasar.

I quite clearly remember being laughed off this forum about a year ago when I suggested society would have to move to personal transport like power bicycles in the future.

Seems this transition is being effected sooner then even I imagined.

But I do agree with the "rednecks" that a go-cart alike small personal transportation looks alot better then a bycycle with a small engine.

The Brits can't drive into downtown London anymore. Rome- ditto. In Copenhagen & Amsterdam they learned this years ago. It's coming to the US, too.
Semi-Facetious solution- Send the Chinese all of our used cars, and they can ship us all of their 200,000,000 used $%^&**&%$# ugly, city bicycles and we get a few of our Trillion $ back. And Chinese gas is STILL too cheap.

We can't sell our cars in China. They do not meet Chinese mpg standards. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />
