Corsair F27 - 07/10/01 12:11 AM

What is a fair condition 10 year old F27 worth? Just looking for a ballpark figure to compare against the new Reynolds design. Does anyone have experience with both to compare? Does anyone know of a website to find used Corsairs at?

I'm sure the Reynolds tri for sale is a prototype with no others to be built. That sort of excludes alot of on hands experiance by impartial sailors. I didn't see any F27's for sale on the Farrier site at http://www.farrierclass.org/sale.html. but look at the tri's that are for sale. I haven't sailed either boat(hint hint Ferrier sailors) so I can't comment on any of the boats other than I wouldn't mind an F25C as a new personal boat.

From watching the classifieds for awhile, it seems that on average the F27 might be found for as little as $40k on up. Average seems to be $45-65k. One thing about the Corsairs is that they seem to hold value very well. As for the Reynolds, note that they are no longer planning on building the tri. They are now focusing on a 33 foot performance cat with some cruising amenities. Try the Trader Online site (I don't have the URL handy) and search for Corsair, they routinely pop up there.

Keith Chapman, Annapolis, Md.

Take a look for used F-27's at
http://www.corsairtri.com (Don Wigston- Atlanta, GA)
http://www.fboats.com (Steve Marsh- Stuart, FL)
http://www.yachtworld.com/hdgys (Jeff Schoerpf- Havre de Grace, MD)
http://www.lavidastarships.com (???- Lewisville, TX)
http://www.multimarine.com (Mike Leneman- Marina del Rey, CA)

There are others but these are the ones that came to me off the top of my head. I have never seen the Reynolds, but judging by the picture the F-27 seems MUCH more substantial. If you have any questions about F-boats feel free to ask here or check out the F-Boats discussion group on yahoogroups. I have been sailing an F31 for a year and a half now and LOVE the boat.

I don't remember all of the particulars, but browsing through soundings magazine yesterday I came across a F27 in the low-$40 range. I think the boat was located in louisiana or some other gulfcoast location. Perhaps Soundings has a website.....
