Tapered spin halyard on N20

Tapered spin halyard on N20 - 11/03/08 03:59 AM

Anyone know the measurements of a tapered N20 spin halyard?
My boats in FL for the winter so no way to measure it.

I need the measurements for the part that attaches to the head as well as the retrieval line part. I want to do a taper on both sides with the part we are handling thicker.
I have a spinlock on the beam so if you have a cleat on the mast please let me know as that will make a small difference.

Thanks!

Todd,

If you taper both sides, there's a good chance that you'll only be able to taper a very small length on the retreival end. A lot of that retreival end is pulled through into the bag and out the snuffer gromett and you don't want the crew yanking on 12-strand.

KrashKrantz has the dimensions of my halyard which is perfect. Trey could also chime in here. As for material, I recommend the 12strand amsteel spliced into 4mm robline racing sheet. Its the best halyard I've ever had. Get some Holmenkol and soak the 12strand section in a bucket overnight.

I only need a little bit tapered on the retreival end, but your probably right, it'd only be a very little. I just want to reduce the friction against the sail.

Any chance you have the measurements of your halyard or should I email Mike?

I've got Paraloc rope making me a halyard and donating other stuff for the Tybee so i'm going to take whatever they give me smile It is all pretty sweet stuff though and well suited to taking abuse.
Already got Holmenkol supplying me with product for the Tybee as well.
