Traveller Car Options?

Traveller Car Options? - 03/14/09 04:45 AM

I have a P19 I'm refurbing.

Is there a Harken or Ronstan direct replacement
for the Prindle traveller car?

Or, if I want to change, am I stuck with
replacing the rail as well?

The new ones have synthetic rollers, which
from past experience, do not last/work as
well as the metal roller cars.

When I had my P18-2 years ago, the upgrade was stainless rollers, from the plastic ones. Has it changed back?

You can bolt the harken track on top of the existing track, then it makes the traveler line thru the cleat at an angle, but it works.

I upgraded to the stainless rollers, that was many years ago though.

Yup, went back to the synthetic in the last couple of years.

Lower cost on manufacture smirk

Try Ronstan 19 mm I-track with the 6 wheeled traveller car.

It is being used on some F16's including my own and it works like a charm. I never wrinse the damn thing and I store my boat at the beach front 6 months of the year (salt and sand). The recirculating **** is always jammed, the I-track never is. And it has full ball baring stainless steel wheels.

Don't use the 4 wheeled cars for this rails as they are just loaded up to much for a cat like the F16's and P19's. These 4 wheeled cars tend to break after a few years. 6 wheeled one never do.

Will this work with the stock Prindle rail or do I have to change it out?

replace rail and car. Or rivet the new rail to top of old rail.

The X-rail setup was/is produced by RWO but they basically begged me not to order it from them. I wanted the X-rail initially but now I totally hapy with the I-track.

You can't have everything, I'm sorry
