Bay-Waveland has quite a nice beach and the facility is verrry nice, one of the first on the Coast to rebuild.

Race is open to beachcats - the RC have posted invite at noyc.org mentioning same....

This is a foot in the door to a GYA regatta...

Where did you all disappear to on Saturday?? We figured if you were even close on the reach you'd eat everyone's lunch.

Is anyone else going? It is an easy drive for me but it would be nice if there was a few beach cats.

Bob Curry told me that he was going. He said some A cats were going- Hodges and Smyth. I took Evan to race an opti at this regatta about 4 years ago and it was fun.Email Bob or contact him on the F17 forum for the latest info. I'm joining STABYC and would like to go next year. Steve

We were on outside of the seabreeze lift, plus, the Express rig really doesn't go upwind, we had to tack 4 times to make the finish. nobody else had to tack. lessons learned though, plus it was fun. Now can say have done the DI on tri, cat, and mono. We hit the beach at DI dropped rig and put boat on trailer. We are heading to Bay Waveland for opening reg. Than to p beach (hopefully) for seabouy race. After that it is boat shopping, looking at Nacra 20's. Need something that can go around the bouys and not just jib reach like a bat out of hell. keeping the Hoof at the YC for Wednesday night racing, and plan on leaving a N20 on trailer to do rega and learn more about this cat stuff. Good meeting ya.

I will be there on my F17 and I know a N20 from OSYC will be there also.

I'll be there with my A-Class and will race on Saturday, I cannot be there for the racing on Sunday.

This is a super opportunity to show the sailors in the GYA the latest generation in beach cat sailing. It will be great if an N-20, F-16, and F-17 are there. Any chance of an F-18? We also need to stress that each class does have one design programs and the racing is not all Portsmouth.

The monohulls racing will include Flying Scots, Finns, 420's, Lasers, Sunfish, juniors on 420's, Laser Radials, and Optimists, and maybe some Lightnings. Let's put on a good show and see if we can turn some heads! They are going to do a team racing demo on Saturday afternoon. Perhaps we can line up do a blast reach demo in front of the yacht club.

Saw a Lightning from Texas at the hotel this morning. Brought the 6.0. Thinking about rigging the big 460 sq foot spin on a jerry rigged pole for funsies.

Quick overview:

Wind was forecast to be 10-15 but picked up into the 20s. Much attrition. Curry presently in the lead, (I think, haven't looked at results.)

Today's weather more of the same, predicted 15-20s. Chop is rough, short steep buggers in the Bay St Louis, I'm hurting and I was on a powerboat.

It's a very good thing that multihulls are representing here... the monohullers seem to be impressed.

The big chute is 460 sq ft. Thankfully I put that on Tami's powerboat to watch the racing. We went with the medium size chute, which the leech runs in column with the mast. We also have a teenetiny chute off an I20 (damn those spi's are cute) which we use for funsies. Most of the the time we went upwind with out the genoa (furled), and down wind with the genoa (unfurled)but popped the chute a few times. It was Deboarah's second time on a cat, or a trapezze for that matter, so we took caution in decisions about popping the chute. Yet she was gunning around the course and even learned to pee in the trap harness while on the wire. All in all good time, learned quite a bit, and scared the bejeeze of some finn sailors at the top mark.
