You can pre register online and there is no fee or penalty if you back out. We are just trying to get as much paper work done before the event and get an idea who is coming.

Rates under $140?? I should HOPE so. This is low season right now -- spring break is over. The Keys are empty. You should be able to find excellent rates anywhere in the Keys.

I found at least three under $100 and Days Inn starts at $80. I know there are bed-and-breakfast places that are lower than that. The problem is that some of the smaller, less expensive places have minimum number of nights stay, and one night doesn't cut it.

I've never seen the Islander for less than $159 (that's the group rate).

Do you HAVE to stay at the Islander if you have your boat there and are sailing out of there? There are other places nearby a LOT cheaper. I realize the organizers want the Islander to get the benefit and getting people at the hotel is the hotel's incentive to be the host site. I just wondered if you are REQUIRED to stay there

No you do not have to stay at the Islander to place your boat there, but you do have to check in with Dennis of Islander Watersports to leave your boat there. And you may leave the boat there until the Tybee 500. W Green
