103 boats on the line?! Wow! And all the big names too! Was that just day 1 results? I noticed it said 05/01 for all the races, day 2, day 3, etc. where are those?
Tom, thanks for finding that for us.

The Long distance race was won by Bontemps-Marfaing sailing a BIMARE X-4 F18 who finished over 5 minutes and a half before Styles-VanWest and over 6 minutes before Bundock-Ashby.
http://www.yccarnac.com/fra/regates/resultats-f18-c0-c1.htmlAn astonishing result for the French amateur team and the Italian boat!

Helps if you sail a different course to the rest of the fleet.... The protest was dismissed and nobody has been told why the BIM was allowed to sail a shorter course.

120 F18s split into 4 groups - white,red,blue and black.
2 groups on each start so 60 boats/start
100 boats in the slower handicap start and 60 in the faster [on seperate course]
races needed to be in multiples of 3 so that each group sailed each other the same number of times.
4 races on friday in 15-20 knots, raid [long distance] on saturday and 2 races on sunday in 5 and 10 knots.
A fair bit of muttering about the winner of the raid, protests lodged and dismissed.
Hobie and swell pleased with their new boats and nacra very pleased with their latest sail tweaks - meant that results were pretty much as they could have been last year! Down to the sailors!
300 boats in a long distance race and no prize for the line honours winner! poor show. It was a 12' wide marstrom 20 brought by Will sunnocks, at great expense, especially for the Raid [he sailed his new Infusion in the course races]

Bet Will was well pissed about that.
He's been working on the M20Vampire for some time, tweaking this and that, mucking around with sails and configurations. (see
www.schrs.com for rating!!!!).
It's a bit of a monster boat. I want a go on it.

It was a good event this year again, a very good F18 fleet, and it was even nicer to be able to pass Bundy and Ashby upwind in one race.
Sadly though the French organization let it down some what, they were continually reinstaing people, changing peoples places and messing people around, one person had a 5th on the friday that turned into a 14th on the Sat and a OCS on the sun. They also didn't like the Idea of Will's M20, luckily though he was prepared, and it was sad that the winner of the long dis didn't do the right course and Will even though he was a mile ahead didn't get the line honours prize some how.
Posted By: Timbo Re: Eurocat-Go Fon!!!!! - 05/05/09 04:20 PM
Did they have any helicopter footage of the distance race that would show the "winner" sailing the wrong course? Seems if the rest of you filed a protest they should at least hear it, and what about the winner, didn't they confess to sailing the wrong course?

Yes,
Will did it correctly; he got his boat measured; talked to the the SCHRS team (Well me) and got measurement certificyaes sent to me, and we calculated and issued SCHRS rating certificates BEFORE the event.

I thought all Infusions released the mast-rotator when going downwind?
Maybe the skipper was not paying attention or something!

Powered by Volvo?? Is that class-legal?
Posted By: macca Re: Eurocat-Go Fon!!!!! - 05/06/09 06:34 AM
Its a Volvo Penta, so its a marine engine... perfectly legal!
and letting mast rotation go downwind is not always faster, depends on the wind strength.
Posted By: TEAMVMG Re: Eurocat-Go Fon!!!!! - 05/06/09 06:42 AM
Heavy like a volvo said the f16 sailor!

Pierrick Contin is truly a master of sailing photography. Just look at how precisely most of these shots are framed!
And, you gotta love how low Bundock and Ashby sit on the trapeze. Straight as a broom to boot.

Look at how far back the crews are in downwind mode. Thats how to sail an F18 downwind!!!!!!

Hopefully the F16 crews pick up on this sooner or later and don't try to sail these boats at the Alter cup as if they are Inter-20's !

As soon as the breeze is up your out the back there. Need to get out thier for they waves aswell, being a light team we strugled downwind in thoes big waves sometimes at Carnac, esspecially with only my 50kgs danglin' out the back there. Still somehow in the breezyist race of the event we pulled out a 5th.

Sounds to me that you are Pizza deficiant... try my meal plan.... 1/2 a pie for breakfast, 1/2 a pie for lunch... then an extra large with pepperoni and mushrooms (for your recommended allowance of veggies) for dinner... don't forget to snack between meals... (i suggest pizza)

Depends on who sailed those boats I would say.
Got to congratulate Macca on the result! 50kgs??? How tall then?

Based on looking at my A, I think that is how Marstom gets the interior part of the mold out.
Posted By: macca Re: Eurocat-Go Fon!!!!! - 05/13/09 10:11 PM
I'm not 50kg's!! more like 77... and Herbie is about the same.
in fact, the top 6 boats would all be within 10kg in crew weight so the band is getting tighter.
First Capricorn was in 27th I believe.. Stuart Gummer?
Also Shockwave was inside top 10 which was a good result.
