Yup - the Cap'n is looking relaxed. You can just make out Smith lurking in the background, too. On the left is Steve Robb. Between him and Bobcat is Glenn Marsh, the guy that came up with the regatta originally. We're hanging out behind his house where the regatta was first hosted - Glenn and Diane were terrific hosts. The boat is a ARC 22 with a Starsky & Hutch paint job. Good times.

I'm gonna say either 2000 or 2001. Got to go back and check my t-shirts.

We had 5 N20's, 3-N17's, a Blade F16, Viper F16, P18MX, F18HT, N6.0NA, and P19-Spi. Breeze started out 8-10, then built to the upper teens w/gusts in the low 20's. Big news was the performance of the F16's. When they weren't flipping, they were up near the front of the pack. The Viper actually won the last race boat-4-boat. Just the right amount of sail, though a few more feet of bow would have helped, but Humphries/McNeir displayed excellent boat-handling. Don't have exact results, but I'm pretty sure top 3 were Capt Kirk, Mark Smith, Andy Humphries. Bobcat won the first couple races, then bowed out as the breeze built.

re: bobcat. he didn't bow out because of the breeze. I was on the beach early after i went over in a gust and broke my boom(again). Bob came in awhile later after he was hit by another F17 and bent his tiller crossbar. The wind was fantasitc saturday. I had my 8 yr old daughter as crew but the gusts at 20 kts proved to be more than we could handle. the good news is she loved the whole things and was laughing as we went over. I challenge anyone with their daughters to a race!!! i got an on the water challenge from Strategery to a race with his 9 yr old daughter. How about a daddy/daughter race???? name the place! We can call it the Hannah Montana regatta. if you don't know who Hannah is you probably don't have a daughter under 12! cheers

My little girl will be 6 in August, and she would definitley but up for anything Disney related.

Top 5 actually would up being -

1 - Newkirk/Holmes
2 - Wilson/Beach
3 - Smith/Dj
T4 - Humphries/McNeir
T4 - MacDonald/Gailey

Fun distance race today saw a fleet of 6-7 boats head out to a channel marker half way out to Ft Pickens, then back west to a marker near Portofino. Humphries/McNeir were chased closely by Armador, who made the uni set up work to his advantage for a portion of the downwind run.

The results may not be accurate. I think they used the F18 rating for the F16s, which might change the results.

Also, there was no throwout. With all that wind and 4 races, there should have been one. There were lots of capsizes, collisions and damaged equipment. We beached for a repair thinking we had a throwout. Sure I should have known, but there should have been a throwout with over 3 races.

we've been there before...did the SI's state that there would be no throw-out? If it didn't, there's a throw out after four.
