Morning Light movie?

Morning Light movie? - 06/20/09 06:35 PM

Well, I went to Blockbuster to rent it, guess what? It is a "Documentary" so they don't stock it. At least my local Blockbuster isn't going to be getting it, ever. Any ideas where I might be able to rent it or buy it?

Any reviews yet from you who have seen it? I don't have Blue Ray so I guess I won't be seeing the "extra scenes".

Anyone actually sat through it yet? Any reviews? Is it worth the $24.99 (plus Tax) or is it a "once is enough" type thing, without the Blue Ray, do I even want to own it?

I have it on my PC but have not watched it yet.

Not really sailing related but also very interesting is the BBC series South Pacific.
(here's a clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5mMI8t7vV0&fmt=22 )

It will be out on DVD mid-juli and is definitly worth buying, they also show a lot of
behind the scenes stuff as to how they film certain scenes.
One of the most impresive scenes shows them filming inside a huge 2km purse seine net.

Thanks for the info guys, I'll wait for a few more reviews before I drop $20 on it though, espeicially when I can watch some great cat sailing vids. on You Tube for free!

My kids bought me new shoes for Father's Day, I should have asked for the movie I guess but really, I never asked for anything, "Just PLEASE be GOOD for your Mother!" They also got me the new Denis Leary book, "Why We Suck" which is really funny, if you like Denis Leary. OK, I may have told my Wife to get it from them, for me.

For those of you "out of towners" who may not have heard of Denis Leary, he's a stand up comic who now has a TV drama series but he's very, very sarcastic. He grew up in an Irish Catholic home, so a lot of his humor in the book is in his upbringing.

I love him but he's not for every body, no doubt. He's got lots of stand up clips on You Tube.

I'll try to find his rant on how he can't get a cup of "Coffee flavored Coffee" at Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts, or even at a 7-11, and post it for you so you can see what you're getting into before you buy the book.

You mean Bill Hicks' upbringing?

"I have a scoop for you. I stole his (Leary's) act. I camouflaged it with punchlines, and to really throw people off, I did it before he did".

"I quit smoking just to see if Dennis would too."

You might want to read the rest of his bio. up the page from the little bit you clipped there, and remember, that's from Wikipedia, not Encyclopedia Britanica...

I'm not sure he stole his entire life and all his material from Bill Hicks. It sounds like he actually did some stuff of his own.

I don't know Denis personally, but I like his stuff, wether he stole it from Hicks or not. I'm pretty sure Hicks was dead and not able to write the book for him though.

Timbo:

Just watched it. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it a 3. Jumped back and forth to much. It an accomplishment that a young team did it, but I was bored. Save your money.

Thanks Doug. I was just talking about renting a "new movie" for tonight with my wife, I guess I'll have to watch yet another one of her chick flicks...or sleep. ;^)

Re: Morning Light movie? - 06/26/09 10:59 PM

"Wind" is a real good sail flick. Has run real good sailing scenes and a all star cast. The International 14 is a HOOT, if only a few minutes. OH. And we have to do our Honey do's every now and then and watch a chick flick. Though some are good!!!

Thanks for reminding me about Wind! My good friend Rolf sent it to me.(thanks again Rolf!) I'll watch that again on my laptop rather than yet another chick flick.

Yea I am going to want "Bolt" with the grand kids Sat. Quality grand kid time. Funny, you know movies on my laptop are better than on my 52" big screen with the 5.1 sound card in it and stereo headphones!!!
