Re: Politics.. - 09/22/09 01:20 PM

I'm all for the "Keep it relevant to sailing" option. It's too bad that we don't all have more discussion about the politics and legislation that affect sailing on the local, state and federal level. PLUS the poltics within US Sailing and ISAF, and all the way up to the International Olympic Committee.

One example is the other current thread on this forum about difficulty in getting a sailboat registered.

I was going to say that this is a Cat Sailing forum but, as the current page only has 676 posts related to sailing and 3716 posts about US politics, I would be wrong.

Now why can't we get this much interest in sailing on political forums?
Could it be that people go there to talk about politics?

Potitics= I'm right, what i say is right, people i say are right are right.

That's not politics, that's religion.

A political thread really doesn't belong in an open forum on sailing.

I enjoyed the mast stepping thread on the F16 forum. I wish there were more of that.

It does seem that if you want technical insight into sailing, the F16 forum is it right now.

And nice job on the Bitza, Wayne...

Because there are too many people out there that think I (and improbably you) am interested in their politics.

Don't click on topics you don't care about. Pretty frickin' simple if you ask me. I don't care about putting a square top on a 5.2, guess what? I don't click on it.

Re: Politics.. - 09/25/09 02:27 AM

I think I asked long ago for it's own forum, like SA has.

Rick didn't like that idea though, and it is his site.

Then we could have different threads in the political forum, like the SA site has.

I'm not complaining, I'm just saying!

I'm with Karl. Every time I go to some of the trainwreck political threads and get all worked up I think to myself, "It's your own fault for clicking dummy."

Karl you A$$! Whadda ya mean you don't care about my new friggin' main?!?!?!?
Just kidding. I agree with you.

Don't like = don't click. If only it were this easy to ignore stuff you don't like in real life!

In real life there is a lot never passing your ears that you actively have to ignore.

Yes, but you don't have "Geert Wilders" in your country ;-)

Rolf, I've always wondered,

what is your avatar? What is it a picture of?

I tried to pm you, but it said you were ignoring me. Not really sure why however.
