batting average

batting average - 04/29/10 12:55 PM

I recently had a very knowledgable person grade my sailing and received a score of .100 (more or less) on a scale of 1.000! So here I stand, in all my glory, the Bob Uecher of the catamaran world! laugh

So, what's your batting average?

And, for some serious fun, how would you define such a grading system? What components would you include?

How was it figured?

I knew someone would ask that. There were five categories, four of which were subjective.

The fifth criteria was boat handling skills, which is more of what I had in mind.

In my case the judge's assessment was quite accurate, imo.

Pete,

Ask for your score relative to guys our age. He'll probably tell you that the sample isn't big enough to form a norm.

90% of winning races is the start..,
the other 90% is mark roundings.

If I have a 50% chance of getting something right, there's a 100% chance that I'll choose wrong.....This is why I don't go to Vegas!

Move yur decimel to the left a few yards. I'll be 62 in a couple of days. This will mark the beginning of a three year effort to improve, after that I may take up stamp collecting.

I think the batting average is a good idea so using myself as a lab rat, I'll keep you posted.
