That's one way to gybe it! You just need to work on your cross under the boom so you don't get caught on the low side...

Jake,

Yes we had good wind on saturday 10-15 with some higher gust. We missed the first few races when on our first downwind leg we had a problem. See video and this is only my second video editing so sorry about the crappy job. We did get back out on the water after doing some MacGyver repairs. spinpole break

Oh! and I had a guy at work ask me today if there was some big race near Charlotte...apparently he saw some "crazy-a$$" trailer rig with a catamaran tilted way up in the air behind a green van headed north on I85. "Looked fast". ;-)

Dave, the videos are great! don't change a thing!

Yikes - Port spin pole bridle broke?

Re: Having fun with F20c and gopro - 11/02/10 02:04 AM

Jake,

Yes, the spin pole bridle broke. We had installed an aluminum end pole internal tack line piece and the holes were a little big for the bridle lines, so we added a small washer. The washer bent under load and cut the bridle line. We cut the pole off a little at the break and found a small sleeve and riveted it in.

Watching from the side view, it looked like that boat was for sure going to flip over backwards

The video didn't do it justice. From my angle the boat was nearly vertical.

The video doesn't come close to showing what it felt like on board. I was sure we were going to do a backwards flip, and then just when we peaked out on the jump, it gybed!!!

Mike, it could be fast...you just need to get out and practice it more! We can call it the Jump-Gybe! Just be sure you...Stick...the landing or it might end up like those 18 Skiffs that go pole-down to the deep end!

Macca,

This is why you keep the boards up some when really going for max speeds, isn't it?

David Lennard, Really nice vids.

I like the facts in your signature.

We were just playing, way too far back on the boat.

Mike bought and mounted the camera I just cut and paste it into youtube.

I had to add a line under my name to compete with Pete. Maybe things will be different after today.
