Alter Cup Qualifiers Fort Walton, FL Nov 13 and 14 - 11/04/10 05:52 PM

There have been some changes to the NOR and SI stuff. It can be found at the Fort Walton yacht Club website, www.fwyc.org

Intereting note is that of USCG pfd must be worn at all times. So heads up to all Zhik lovers, this takes the Zhik lifejacket out. Bummer as Deborah and I love ours.

Regisitration is still open for the event.

Have a great day.

3rd - Reiss, 2nd - Curry, 1st - Smyth - final results will be posted on www.fwyc.org

The full results aren't listed yet but the preliminary results do give the following crew-boat type combinations :

1st Randy Smyth / Michael Rice - AHPC Viper F16
2nd Bob Curry / singlehanding - (Marstrom ?) A-cat
3rd Taylor Reiss / Matthew Whitehead - AHPC C2 F18

Note to readers : the fast DPN rating for the F16's is used meaning the boats are rated from fastest to slowest as follows : F18 - F16 (+35 secs) -> A-cat (+86 sec) per FULL HOUR of bouy racing. This implies that the ultimate catamaran design (A-cat) may be (121 secs=) 2 min slower around the course per hour of racing then the F18.

Interesting !

What were the wind conditions on both days ? Looks like light to medium in the pictures.

Of course Smyth can sail a bathtub with a bedsheet to victory, so ...

Jeanne, Thanks for all the great action shots!

Winds were approx 4-6 on Sat and 6-9 on Sun. It went down to the last race with the A Cat in the lead. The wind had freshened and it was good to have a spinnaker! It was a tough fight to the end. Congrats to Smyth/Rice on the win!!

Wout, the A cat is indeed a Marstrom M5 with curved foils and I used an Elliott mega head mainsail.

BC wink

Yeah yuk it up boys, Jake please notice that the Cat Trax are NOT tied to the boat.

As for you Mr. Wouter... Where does one begin?

And yes have your Monday morning fun, but there is nothing you can say that will sting quite like the first time a pretty girl says "come here grandpa and give me a hug". My F!@#ing peeps!

Great weekend, awesome location and "some" of the sailors were actually pleasant to spend time with. Not my roomates but others.

I got an up close look of Chris's Trident and it is as much art as it is science. That boy has some MAD skills.
