Tradewinds, it's F!@#ing on B!tches!

Tradewinds, it's F!@#ing on B!tches! - 12/14/10 02:53 PM

11 F18's nice!

We're comin for ya Karl! Assuming my new dagger boards get here in time. The Steeplechase is getting expensive.

Ricky at least try to make an effort to finish this series. When you get an attack of ADD and bail it's just not as satisfying and leaves me empty inside. Oh that puts the score at 2-1 in my favor Ricky!

Tad I'd call you out too but I'm sure you'll be nursing a hang nail or some other major ailment and won't be able to make this one. There's probably a Dungeon’s and Dragon's tournament that weekend too, right?

red clearly beats orange though... so you're screwed smile
But the rash...

I am going to be doing it Hollywood style. Fly in, have my crew pick me up at the airport, take me to a fully set up boat, drive, then fly out. HEEEELLL yeah. that's how I roll

Re: Tradewinds, it's F!@#ing on B!tches! - 12/19/10 08:38 PM

Up to 17 F18s! And Prentice still hasn't registered, so that's 18.

Ding where do you get 2-1? You got me NA's (like that counts!), Spring Fever, and last year's steeple. I got you at Tradewinds last year and that's all, who knows what would have turned out had I not succumbed to my ADD at this year's Steeple.

If you can't get your boards, I have another a spare if you need to borrow one.

I was just talking about the score for our FL match ups. I was attempting to spare you the public humiliation of hearing someone nearly twice your age say... "I'm undefeated against your punk a$$ outside FL mudda fugga!"

WHERE'S MY DAMN HAT!

Prentice probably can't make this (still hopeful for a last minute availability). Hence his faithful crew (me) has taken over as Robie's crew for the regatta, see y'all down there!

Old guys rule

see, back in the day, the youth could claim "vigor" (for lack of a more "internet friendly" term) over the old dudes, but thanks to various medications, the old dudes got it all...money, wisdom, charm, experience, patience, and now "vigor".

Not only that, but we score the early bird specials and AARP discounts, so things don't cost as much. No wonder the ladies flock to the old dudes...

50 is the new 25...

17 F18s... that's going to be a busy pre-start box. smile

Are you sissies going to want your own start, or can Rick toss in the other spin fleets just to make it "fun" (if Seth is coming, bring some extra epoxy)... Or maybe the Wave fleet?
Posted By: David Ingram

Re: Tradewinds, it's F!@#ing on B!tches! - 12/23/10 03:10 PM

The F18's will have their own start. And it's 18 F18's the one at the bottom counts too.

Seriously??? It takes AT LEAST 30 boats to be anything but a cakewalk. 60+ is most exciting.

It can be plenty exciting with just 10... provided all 10 know how to start smile
So we are up to 21 boats! Chris Prentice, Anthony Boueilh are also supposedly coming... I'm hoping I can talk Jim Zelmer into coming, that'd be 24... I'm not sure if Eric Witte is sailing a viper or an F18 but he is definitely sailing... looking pretty good!!!!!

Good god. I'm getting 10mpg with the triple stack. I gotta fill every 300 miles, at $100 a pop I'm gonna probably burn up $1300 in fuel. Yikes!

Welcome to my life.... we budgeted for 7mpg and were psyched when we got 9... but my truck only has a 18 gallon tank... lots of gas stops.

That sucks. I've got a 34 gallon tank, but normally get 15-17 with one boat.

Get behind a box truck and get real close. Drafting will net you 2-5 mpg, perhaps more.

I believe Tad said he "retired from competitive sailing" so if you want to race him you can't be competitive. Just don't bet him anything( maybe that's what's too competitive)...he has a problem paying up.

Any wayward crews need a skipper for Sat. and Sunday? I'll be around after the A cat event. I'd offer to crew but don't know if I've got it in me anymore.

Too outa shape to pull 'em how I expect them to be pulled. Although I wouldn't rule it out, I'm just better on the other end of the boat.

I do think it is harder to be a good crew than a good driver. Takes more to crew well.

I would rather go with;

the required skill sets are different but no less challenging on either end of the boat. Experience on either end will help somewhat to offset shortcomings on the other but experience on both positions is required to play near the top.

For some of us it is more the midwinters then a "weekend regatta", by that I mean those of us who come from lands that no longer have soft water this time of the year ;-)

Now, will it be shorts and t-shirt weather, or perhaps I might have to put a shortie on! This canuck is tired from all the snow I have moved around in the past 48 hours!

Re: Tradewinds, it's F!@#ing on B!tches! - 01/11/11 02:58 PM

The cards are in it for me for this Tradewinds. I've just about regained my strength from the flu/stomach bug this weekend and tonight I should have enough in me to dig out the boat and all the ice crusted 8 inches of snow behind my (now depressingly large) gates I built for the Mahal. After the trip into work this morning, I have little doubt it will require engagement of 4WD to break the General from his icy chains...but I only need to get about 30 miles south of home and the freeway should be smooth sailing....come'on Key Largo!

Yikes! Glad heading through the armpit of SC - Columbia - is an option! I'm hoping that my showing up at work early today (with only about 10% people reporting) might buy me some additional leniency to hitting the road earlier than planned tomorrow. The ice wasn't quite so bad our way and the freeways are moving today. All the salt and saline they had went on the freeway with more expected to come from Charleston this afternoon - the secondary and back roads haven't been touched and are going to be even rougher tomorrow after a dip into the teens tonight.

....bastard.
