Infusion Dagger issue

Infusion Dagger issue - 01/24/11 06:57 PM

So I have completely rebuilt an Infusion and had my maiden sail a couple of weeks ago. One issue we had was with the rubber dagger board shims. Even using shims on both sides of the board they do not hold the board in place. I can't move them further into the board than they already are so now I am wondering what the best fix is. They will have to be bigger, in which case I am not sure where to get the material. Another thought I was having was to sandwich the rubber piece inside of some trailer bunk carpet so that the carpet would be rubbing the daggerboards. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

check the manual at nacrasailing dot com
it is important that the rubber is really tight [like it looks it is to tight- water will lubricate it]

Take the rubber off and wrap some self amalgamating tape around it to thicken it up.

+1 on taking the rubbers off, complete junk.
Put in this stuff:http://www.apsltd.com/p-15354-board-carpet-adhesive-backed-per-ft.aspx
Its a white carpet type stuff... theres a picture if you look under one design, v15, daggerboard...
I have had this in my boat for 2 years and my boards don't budge. They are actually a little hard to get up at times, we usually mclube them each morning. But I think that could be solved by trimming the stuff down or using less.

Shoot me a PM if you'd rather buy it from me than APS.

It is tight. The manual also says you only need one side, but I have both sides and on the port hull they don't even come into contact with the boards. On the starboard side they contact the board but once wet will not hold the board up.

I actually have some of this left over from my Hobie 18 project. Are you using this in place of the carpet just below the decks surface? I don't know if our dagger trunks are the same. My Infusion is hull number 1 back when the boards were gybing. The bottom has since been bogged in but I don't know if the deminsions up top were the same as current production. This could be part of the issue as the dagger boards are new. Maybe they used to be thicker.
