iSailRace offers event online result for sail race regatta scoring with real-time analytics specially designed for sailors by sailors worldwide.

Event organizers looking for sail race event regatta scoring with real-time analytics online result anywhere in the world? Signup now at http://isailrace.com for free!

iSailRace is a free web based application designed to make the results from sailing races more accessible. We do this by making the setup and scoring of the event easier for the organizer, allowing them to get off the water and score the even faster than ever before. Combined with a login for each sailor, providing a profile with links to all the events they have raced in. All this within one website...for FREE.

iSailRace was built by sailors, for sailors. We are the kind of sailors who spend the "drifters" in-front of a computer screen writing code. We were tired of waiting for our results, and then trying to decipher trends in our sailing performance. We love sailing, we love software, and we thought others would enjoy seeing what we've built. So go ahead, enjoy!

I hear the designer is as nice as they get, he's Canadian so you shouldn't expect any less! Plus he sails F18s!

Very nice and it's free, don't even have to join an NMA to use it, sweet!

Great, but how are you going to support the cost of the website?

Rick, are you asking me or the author of the application?

Hi Rick,

I created the website just over a year ago. After using other scoring applications I was compelled to design a system with the following concepts in mind:

1) Design the system to be easy to use
2) Make it quick, painless and free to people to sign-up. If its 2 boats racing or 200 boats racing I wanted an easy system for people to track results. Reduce the barrier of entry to get boats out racing
3) Real-time results, accessible through traditional browsers, mobile, tablet, etc.
4) Allow individual sailors access to their results more efficiently, in one central location

Both sailing and software are really passions of mine so I have decided not to charge anything for the use http://isailrace.com . The only time I charge a fee is when handling online payments for pre-registration if the event organizer chooses to enable this feature. This is only to cover the fees I have to accept credit card/paypal.

As Todd mentioned, I sail F18s up in the Toronto area and we use iSailRace for cat sailing events within the Burlington Beach Catamaran Club, Ontario Catamaran Racing Association (ORCA - http://orcaevents.org/) and CanF18.

Sounds like a great idea, and hopefully you can sell some banner ads to pay for the expenses.

I tried to add a regatta and got an error message, and the regatta did not show up on events.

Will definitely not use it for the Tradewinds.., I don't think that would be a good time to try something new. But, I want to start using for our Wave Series Racing, Nationally, at Upper Keys Sailing Club, and in the summer at Put-in-Bay YC.

I did put a blurb in this issue of the magazine in the Letters to Editor, where I squeezed out some room for it. (Got this info just before sending to the printer)

Good luck,
Rick

Hi Rick,

Thanks for the note. I'll take a look into the error you received when entering the event. I do see the event was added and is now showing up in the event listing.

If you think it would be valuable I could score Tradewinds for your team alongside your normal process. It would be a good trial and help your team see how the site works once fully populated with an events worth of registrants, fleets, races, etc.

Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for the mention in the magazine. Much appreciated.

Talk with you soon,

Nate

I really like the Facebook "share" feature and I've already added the Hagar event and plan on using it for the Kelly Park River Regatta in the spring. Thanks Nate!

Is there a way to include NOR's for listed events? I looked at the site, and saw the upcoming Hagar event listed, but from the site, there is no info on the event.

Re: http://isailrace.com - 01/04/12 02:50 PM

I talked to Nate about that yesterday and he's already working on adding the feature. How about that Nate guy, is he the sh!t or what?!

In actuality the NOR isn't ready yet, Princess is still working on it and I wanted to see how isail worked so... I jumped the gun a bit.

Oh... and I'm using the term NOR loosely here, it will be an Event Information Sheet (EIS), please don't let that deter anyone from reviewing it, suggestions are always welcome. It will be the event that never happened but has a butt load of pictures and memories. There might even be a movie too, there is a bridge involved after all.

in lieu of an EIS, perhaps a "Notice of Party" and during said party some dude stands up and says "I'm going to sail that way really fast. You M-Fers catch me if you can".

Just don't let anyone hit one another, or make a simple statement that each skipper is 100% responsible for any damage or injuries on his boat. I'm sure that will hold up to a lawyer...

Hijack aside, good luck with the scoring program.

I believe we (CRAM) had discussed possibly using this, but a number of our race sites have limited or no internet access. Seemed like a showstopper. Any comments/ideas?

I believe Nate is going to be at Tradewinds and be scoring as a backup to Barb using Sailwave. At the same time teaching her how to use his system.
Can't beat that.
