It's only 10,000 BHT to register for that regatta. How bout a road/water/train trip next year?

F16's at Thai Regatta; 3 races completed - 02/04/12 09:14 PM

And the results of the first 3 races is that Carolijn Brouwer/Brett Goodall are still leading with 3 bullets on corrected time.

I find it also quite exiting to see 3 F16's in top 5 with 5 F16's in the top 8 and all 6 F16's in the top 12. The high performance fleet is 36 boats deep with 24 F18's (incl. 7 Tigers), 6 F16's, 3 NF20's, 1 Tornado, 1 A-cat and 1 Spitfire.

Carolijn has twittered :

"Happy Viper sailing at Thai Cat Regatta. Only two F20's in front of us and beating all F18's over the line. Our result today : 1,1,1"

"Haven't sailed it yet, but in person the boat looks awesome. Gunnar and Coen are both sailing them here- can't think of better test pilots! " (from the nacra 16 thread in the f16 forum)

Im curious how this boat is going in thailand. Have you heard how it is sailing and what they think of the boat. I heard the boat has a bit more rocker, less volume in the bow, flatter bottom and less freeboard than the viper . Any thoughts on this? Im not nearly smart enough to know how this affects the boats, but am curious how these things should affect the boats.

Hard to say too much about the Nacra F16 after one day. The boat is definitely fast- it was up with the top F18s all day, as were all the F16s. The F16 fleet is stacked here, with Gunnar and Coen sailing the Nacras, and Carolijn Brouwer/Brett Goodall and Jason Waterhouse on the Vipers amongst others. The Viper won the day yesterday, but it was also the first race for the Nacra. I think we will see things getting closer as the event progresses and they get the Nacra dialed in. Beautiful day yesterday, looking light today but hopefully it will fill.

Im looking forward to hearing more about the boats, keep the updates coming.

I heard nacra will have the 17 on the water on monday there in thailand. Have you heard anything about that????

I haven't heard anything about the 17, but it wouldn't surprise me. I will ask Gunnar when I see him. I'm looking forward to sailing the 16, and hopefully even the 17 if that rumor is true. Like I said in my report, I was very impressed by the F16s yesterday, very, very quick both up and down.

you should see if there is any truth to the rumor of lift foils for a viper while you're there. you're close to the people that should know i would think.

The Nacra F16 is no dud ! - 02/10/12 02:04 PM

One thing is for sure now that the Thai regatta has ended.

That Nacra F16 is no dud !

Did very well for its first regatta considering that is always takes a while for the mast and sail combo to be fine-tuned to the new hulls.

Well done Nacra ! and welcome to the club.
