Gin-pole

Anyone know the length for a Gin-pole on a Hobie 21SE ?


Almost done building the molds for my center-board's, (mine were toast).
Had to take the best one and mod it so it would fit both hulls ;Both stuck
down about 1/4 to 3/8", even when pressed firmly up by the LE, so it wasn't just
a stretched retracting cord tuning needed.
When finished i'll be ready to check & see if anything needs repairing on the
stays, and try stepping the mast for the first time.

I didn't get a gin-pole with my cat, could someone tell me it's length ?
I'll need to build one of those also.

I built a really nice one for my ARC 21. It is probably over built but it works like a charm. I'll get a few pics and measurementts fot you.

Over built is probably Better !!!

Now back to work on the Center-board mold.

Measure from the mast base to where the furler would be when the boat is rigged.

yes, the distance from mast base to forestay

And if i make it the distance Ya described, and as
strong as the boom on the SE ; will that be strong
enough ?

You can use a 2 by 6 pt board to make it. Notch the one end so it fits the mast. Drill a couple holes so you can tie it to the mast. With a table saw you can taper the board slightly towards the tip to lighten it a bit. Cheap, simple and strong.
