May be moving out of country. Best to sell the boat and get something there or try to box it up and ship it?

Puerto Rico is a very good possibility. Nothing is sure yet but it looks like it's a good bet.

Puerto Rico is under the US flag so there should not be any custom duties to pay. Purchasing a boat there or in the US Virgin Islands is something to consider as the USVI is under the US flag as well.

Are you going with just your toothbrush or taking the house with you? If it's the house, or at least the contents, you'll probably use a container. Break your boat down and ship it with the household goods. You could also tow it to Florida and ship from there to reduce shipping costs.

Take a look at:

Ha!

Are you limited on a dollar amount of stuff you can bring in?

I don't know if there's much F18 racing, but there is some H16 racing I think.

If you have port holes you could stuff a bunch of stuff in the hulls. Fill the voids in everything and you will have plenty of room.

If you're looking for a crew to sail it over, let me know! That would be a great adventure and a pre-runner to the Cuban Race thingy someone tried to get going a few years back..

That was one of the best one's I've read in a long time, thanks! Sorry Karl, I'm sure it's a fine state, right?

Good luck on what ever happens!

Rich,

I've lived in both PR and California you will love the sailing in PR and the islands. You can save some room by giving your wetsuits away you don't need them anymore.

A guy in PR just bought a Grady White 252 from my dad, seems that shipping it there is no big deal.

Shipping to PUR is a piece of cake. I once shipped a drill rig, two support trucks, and fifty pallets of supplies to Aguadilla. They went out of Jacksonville.
