Paint suggestions?

I just bought a used G-cat 5. Its my first sailboat ever. She is in good shape but needs a fresh coat of paint. Any brand suggestions or tips?

I am by no means an authority on this but I think, if possible the best solution is to buff out the gel coat. Having said that, last year I decided to paint my boat. After much research I decided to try http://www.rustoleum.com/product-catalog/consumer-brands/marine-coatings/topside-paint You can brush it, roll it or spray it. I sprayed it and was pretty happy with the results. I've also used Basecoat/Clearcoat automotive paint on fiberglass boats but eventually the clear started to peal off and the stuff is pretty toxic.

Did you use the White? And presumably you did various sanding after painting?

is there paint on it now? or gel-coat?

if gel coat you can use acid to clean it and a "poly" product to seal and shine it up

Yep - White. I just followed the instructions, sand, primer, paint. It took a couple/three coats since I was spraying it.
