Hobie Bravo ?

Looked in the archives and have read many interesting comments on the Bravo. Would anyone care to make additional comments and comparisons, like in reference to the Wave or the Prindle 16? Could two adults (200 and "130" [color:"blue"] [/color] pounds) sail it just for fun? Would appreciate your responses.

It is not a two-person boat. It is fun to sail, but not fast like a real cat. Good for kids and beach resorts.

Our local dealer brought one out to the last regatta to give free rides. I didn't take it out myself. It looked like it would be crowded with 2 folks on it, but it was moving around OK with 2 on board.
It has no boom or traveler. It was kind of windy, and when it was reaching, and the sailor let the sheet out a bit in a puff, the sail became a large rounded shape that seemed to catch more wind.
It's definitely a resort bote.

Seems like it's mostly a reaching boat. When going downwind, seems the sail would have a tendancy to collapse into a narrow U shape due to the lack of a boom and traveler.

I'll take one of those.

Yes, Kevin, it does collapse into a narrow U-shape alongside the mast when sailing downwind. There is an optional boom for the boat which solves this problem.

Also, I had difficulty tacking it without getting the mainsheet either wrapped around me or around the tiller. It's because the mainsheet cleat is on the top of the tiller. Rick didn't have any problem with that, so it's probably just me.

I know how to tack a monohull dinghy, where the sheet comes from forward and the tiller is aft, but when both are aft, it is a new learning experience.

At first glance, some might do a double take when they see what look like foot straps near the transom. (Carrying handles)
