Hang on John, you'll be OK. Just be smart.

John Mac just called me. Said things look pretty good (considering). Thinks the eye went really close to his house, but very little damage. Santa Rosa Island bridge (Bob Sikes) is open to residents only (John said it's misspelled on the sign ) and they were trying to have all bridges open today. Sounds like Navarre got pounded the worst. There is a pic of Juana's on the Pensacola News Journal site.

John, you might want to consider putting Marine Ply inside the beach house next time

Back on-line.

Kirk's shop lost a couple of walls, but they found them and are already putting everything back together. Not sure how they will move the jet ski rack, which was rotated 90-degrees, but completely intact. His house had very minor flooding, and a little wind damage.

Our beach house lost it's new roof, so the drywall's probably not going to make it. Wrote the roof check last month and the drywall check two weeks ago. Minor water - mostly stuff outside and from the neighbors' houses washing against my back porch. Thanks to help from Sawyer and the beach dogs, there are some tarps and new plywood on the roof.

Sawyer made out well, mostly because he's still living in a travel trailer waiting for his new house to be built. He hitched up to the homestead and skedaddled.

There were some decent-sized limbs down at our house in town, and one tree lost it's top into the driveway. We had it cleared before the sunset, thanks to my wife's chain saw and new gloves.

JMac is looking good - lost some of the plywood he'd put over windows, a couple of sections of fence, and his boat got a minor boo-boo that will take a few minutes' glass work.

Kevin Rejda lost his carport, which took a small portion of his roof with it. He returns from his European vacation on Friday, but his friends have already patched his roof.

Holmes was hit pretty hard - he said it looked like a Howitzer went off in his bedroom, with some of his furniture hanging out of the walls of his second-floor apartment. He's seeking new accomodations.

Smith made out fine up in the country - just like with Ivan, Mark was the first guy to knock on my door after the wind died down a little. Times like these, you find out who your good friends are...

Overall - hardly any flooding, though I did hear of more than a foot of water in houses a few blocks from us on the beach. This was a windy storm, but very short-lived. Tight eye - only 7 miles across - and there was hardly any weather behind the center of circulation. The worst wind only lasted about 45 minutes, and then the sky started clearing, which made me think we were getting the eye. In fact, it was over, much to our surprise and relief.

More as the recovery continues...

That's a lot worse than I had hoped you guys had it - but I'm glad to hear everyone is relatively unharmed. Thanks for the update John!
