Bow foil / spi rig questions for nacra 5.5 - 11/14/05 01:11 AM
Hey,
I am rigging my recently aquired 1999 nacra 5.5 with a spi and have some questions. Any feedback in this area is appreciated.
A bowfoil came with my boat. But...after trying it on for size it sure does look small. Are there 2 sizes of bowfoil made for nacras? I am almost certain that there is a larger size. Should I worry about the bowfoil not doing its job (keeping the bows from towing in)? Or should I just use it. See pictures attached.
I am using a windsurfer mast for a spi pole and I am connecting the pole to the beam with I-20 hardware. I am trying to replicate the F-18 setup as much as possible since I am using an F-18 spi on the boat. What angle should the end of the spi pole make with the mast? Alternatively, how high should the pole be off the water. I've got the pole length right but the current bowfoil limits how high I can angle the pole. Perhaps with the correct size foil this would be a nonissue.
Eventually I would like to get an F-18 snuffer sock and hoop but being a college kid who just bought a boat I am all for creativity. In other words, I may be bag launching for a while.
P.S.
Anyone with an F-18 snuffer hoop or sock they want to sell CHEAP shoot me an e-mail.
Thanks
