sticking daggerboard on H20

sticking daggerboard on H20 - 12/01/01 06:14 PM

One of my daggerboards is difficult to lower and raise on my 1998 H20. The top of the daggerboard trunk has a velcro-like material that causes friction. Do I have to replace this, or is there an easier solution?

Paul, Sight down the length of the daggerboard. It may have a bow in it. I've seen it happen before. Try switching the boards in opposite slots. If the problem follows that is probably it.

I have a 1993 H-20 and had the same problem with the daggerboards; it was a real workout to pull or push them; the solution is very simple; once a month or so, spray a thing coat of silicone on each side of the boards and they will work "like a violin"

<br>Do not touch or remove the piece of carpet you have in the trunk of the boards or you will regret it and the boards will be really loose and the water will push them up when you are sailing.

Thanks a lot for the tip! What type of silicone do you buy? Is if for waterproofing shoes?
