I got nothing. Just want to put a place for folks to post updates.

I read that Cat In The Hat came in at 8:30 am this morning. They were sailing for 22 hours in the last leg.

Rick posted his morning story and pictures in the usual place.

Cat in the Hat is out according to Rick.

"To clean up yesterday's news, Cat in a Hat did not arrive until 8:30 this morning. After 22 1/2 hours on the water the team threw in the towel. Jackson Smith said, "We are pretty exhausted and afraid we will make mistakes. I have two kids that need a father." "

I guess cats don't like water afterall. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Here's some local, mainstream coverage of the Tybee 500 that appears at Florida Today.

Just a note of thanks for all the coverage and news. We were especially worried about Tad last night and thankful for others' concern.

Yeah but are they out of this leg or the entire race?

They are out of the race. You cannot skip a leg.

Boats are starting to arrive at the finish line.

I would have told you 10 minutes ago, but it seems like every time I want to actually post something, I lose internet access.

And, to answer Robi belatedly, yes, Cat in the Hat is out for the rest of the race.

Mary:

You may have the same trouble I had. The cable going from the outside box to my house was bad.

Thanks for the suggestion, Doug. We'll check it out. We have been blaming it on Bellsouth.

I thought they were finishing a couple of hours ago?

Re: Tybee - Day 4 - Cocoa to Ormond - 05/17/06 09:10 PM

So did we. It was a false alarm.

Team Tybee just finished at 4:54 p.m., followed by Castrol 1 four minutes later.

All the other boats except one are in sight and others will be finishing within 5-10 minutes.

Re: Tybee - Day 4 - Cocoa to Ormond - 05/17/06 09:27 PM

Okay, all the boats are in except Velocity, which is very close.
So the finish order is:
Team Tybee
Castrol 1
Castrol 2
Tygart
Seacats
Space Coast
Castrol 3
Velocity

In case you haven't checked, Rick posted his story and pictures quite a while ago. I have only been able to post things sporadically because of what may be a router or modem problem in our office that keeps taking me off the internet. Sorry. When Rick's away, the gadgets play.

Mary:

I have Road Runner and a Toshiba cable modem, running win XP Pro. I kept getting dropped connections are the little yellow triangle that said limited are no connection. Sincethey have replaced the line to the the apt., not once. I think that may be your problem? Keep up the good work. Waiting on Mystere 4.3 hopefully next weekend and learning spinnakers.

Re: Tybee - Day 4 - Cocoa to Ormond - 05/18/06 12:36 PM

There was some discussion about them starting the day, crossing the start line, then dropping out and skipping to the next leg and taking an 8 hour penalty. But they were all or nothing.

Poor internet in the hotel last night so we are "visiting" the Holiday Inn down the street right now to upload two videos. They should be up within the hour.
