Need help replacing standing rigging - 03/23/12 04:32 AM

Im way down in mexico needing to replace my standing rigging. My boat and F18 are new to me, and the measurements Im pulling don't match what Im getting from suppliers like Murrays and the online store.
My boat is a 2004 Nacra F18 fitted with the harken furling components.
here are my measurements, and what Murrays say they should be
Shroud Forestay Bridle
I-18 22' 4" 20' 8" 42"
my boat 22' 7.25'' 21' 0.5'' 47''

Forestay:
My forestay is 4.5'' longer than what they specify, but that is because my boat has been incorrectly fitted with the "standard" non-furling forestay (with pigtail for halyard block) which makes sense, as that is the length the top Harken swivel and Tang, adds to the assembly.

Forestay bridle:
My bridles are each 5'' longer than what they specify. Is this a modification some F18 were doing, or first time you have heard of this ?

Side Stays:
My side stays are 3.25'' longer than what the specify.
could this be the streach over the years ? or were they purposely made longer for what reason ???

Rake:
With the forestay pinned all the way forward and moderate tension on the side stays(hole No 5), my rake (measured using the trap wire to bridel chainplate) is well aft, and comes to the top edge of the transom.
Fitting the shorter furling forestay will help correct this, and shortening the bridle will do even more, but I am concerned if I go with all the measurements they are indicating, I may not be able to pin the rig. I would be loosing 4.5'' on the forestay, 5'' on each bridle, and 3.25'' on the sidestays.
what do you'all think ?
would greatly appreciate your feed back.

I would trust what my measurements are as sometimes changes have been made to the boat which will not be conducive to what is "standard". For example I took the furler off my old Tiger and put on the Nacra forestay triangle, which shortened my bridles slightly and lengthened my forestay.

Try Anacortes Rigging.

Joy Sloan is a F-18 sailor and makes most of the rigging for the F-18 fleet there. They do quality work and are easy to deal with.
