Inter-18 Mast corrision - 12/08/12 12:42 AM
I have a 1996 NACRA Inter-F-18. I store the mast overhead in my shop. This spring I noticed fuzzy salt spots on the ext. Now I have pitting.
My theory... saltwater has entered the mast cavity during capize, then the interior remained moist and corrosive.
I was thinking about drilling 2- 1/2'' holes near the base, flushing the interior with hot fresh water, drying , then coating the inside with some anti-corrision ''agent''
Might this be worthwhile or am I wasting my time.
Is a bit of corrosion pitting serious regarding the integrity of the mast.Have you fellows experienced this.
your opinions are always appreciated
