Why schedule an event at the same time as the Hobie Tiger Continentals? By scheduling 2 events at the same time how does that help anybody except ______. You can fill in the blank. Both events will now suffer because sailors will have to choose one over the other. Not the greatest way for the class accociation to promote F18 sailing.

Perhaps its not so crazy (or evil) The location of the two events are thousands of miles apart. (The H20 and Tiger Nationals are on the west coast quite a distance from Quebec.) How many teams will make the trip? How many teams east of the rockies have ever made the trip for any of the factory nationals? In practical terms, even if the events were two to three weeks apart... few teams would be able to do both events given the travel times and a real life to manage.

You probably don't want to go sailing in Quebec in September or October which puts your regatta in the summer. I agree, you will stop some teams from racing in both events but just don’t know if there is a better alternative.

Don’t forget that finding a club willing to host and run a 20 to 30 boat event for a week is not a small matter.

Good Luck

why do you blame the Formula as it had it's dates before Hobie and Hobie ( possibly not the same ones envoled with their event)knew those dates- it really was a miscommunication. Canada had to go early for a number of reasons and the Formula had hoped to try and always been far enough apart from other Nationas as to not interfer- Hobies and Performances are 90% of the time in late Sept. through Oct. who new mid July was even in the running for Hobie. plus there was no other bid for the Formula's

Just for the record:

There was another bid for the 2004 F18NA's, which did not conflict with the F18 worlds, or the Tiger CC's. That bid was a proposal for Kingston CORK to host, in late August.

That is all history now,,, but lets keep the facts straight.
