Anyone got any great ideas how to fix this gash? It has partially penetrated the foam and there appears to be some delamination around it. I'm thinking of cutting it out, but I don't know what kind of foam to use or how to make it the right thickness so I can glass in a couple of layers of laminate to rebuild the hull exterior.

One suggestion I got this afternoon is to just cut out the damaged foam and fill the area with epoxy, then build up the hull exterior.

You can cut out the damage and fill with two part foam.

I ended up cutting out about a one inch by four inch section of foam. I drilled a few holes around the "wound" in the delaminated areas and injected epoxy until it oozed into the opening. After that set I filled the hole with Marine Tex. It looks good... We'll have to see how it holds up!
