Barberhauler rigging?

I have a question about the setup of the barberhaulers on a 16. I suspect that mine may be rigged improperly because there is a rubbing of the sheet over the block when drawn tight. From the outside towards the center of the boat mine is set up as follows hole
1 outhaul adjustment hole
2 block for the jib sheet
3 end of jib sheet
4 shock cord


So looking towards the bow from the tramp the two look as follows:

1234 4321

Is this right? Do others have it rigged in a different fashion?

Sounds like you are talking about the jib traveller system, H16 does not use a barberhauler.

There have been numerous jib traveller systems fitted to the H16 so it is hard to offer specific advice without knowing your particular setup. The online Hobie and Murrays Marine catalogs have traveller systems illustrations that may be helpfull. If your traveller car has four holes, it may be the black plastic Trentec car. In that case:
1. Traveller car adjuster line
2. End of jib sheet
3. Jib sheet (to cam cleat)
4. Shock cord return line
I believe the Trentec system just runs the jib sheet through the hole to a cross beam mounted swivel cam cleat, no block on the traveller car.

As you rake back the mast on the H16, the jib sheet/traveller/clew block stack up becomes more critical. The lower the "profile", the better. Upwind you will most likely be "block to block". Hope this helps. Post a pic so we can see what ya got.

Use a traveler system that is remotely adjustable from the leeward side of the boat. Barberhaulers are not for Hobie 16's.

Sorry about the terminology mixup. You guys are right; it’s the traveler car. I think that what CMerrell said will help me out a great deal.
