the time has come form as all to pay ap our club memberships.
if you are like me and only sail regattas and titles, or the odd club race at a couple of clubs, the cheapest option is to join Mokoan Yacht Club. they have remote memberships which come with a silver card for $70 dollors. this also lets you sail at the sail inland challenges, against Bendigo, Warranga, Yarrawonga and lake Hume.
look up there website for more details.

Since you bring up silver cards, my club (GLYC) tells us in our renewal notice that under the new Yatching Victoria rules all family members must have (and pay for) silver cards. I don't believe this for a moment - what if you had 9 kids and only one of them sailed?

I'm trying to get Yatching VIC to confirm or deny this but so far have been unable to find anyone there who knows. I'll let you know when I do.

Apparently it's not YA or YV rules - it's just the way GLYC has decided to raise more subscription income.

Mokoan would need to be careful. They are a category E club and if they get too many extra members they will move to the next category which will cost them an extra $1200 in YV fees. That means they would need another 17 members before they break even.

Hi All

Join a Radio Controlled Model Yacht Club for $20-$50, plus YV fees. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Sounds silly but I know a couple of guys that did, because their yacht club went bottom up, and all that was left was the local Radio Controlled Club which was affiliated with the (at the time) VYC.
