Touch up paint - 02/24/12 08:34 AM

Hey there,

So I am picking up my new old mosquito on Sunday, and whilst it was recently resprayed 2-pac, there is a very small section on one hull where the paint has cracked a little (the timber is fine). I hear this can be common with 2-pac paint jobs as the hulls move but the paint doesn't.

I want to 'touch this up' to keep water away from the timber - whats the best paint and procedure to do this? I don't really mind about how good it looks for now, I just want to make sure the hulls are protected.

Cheers,
Andrew

sand it back to the timber and feather out the edges, you can put "everdure" by international which is a timber preservative then once dry tape up boat exept the repaired damaged and spray 2pac undercoat eg International "interprotect" can be rolled too, then you can go to a paint shop or do it your self colour match the paint and spary it on. its ok if you make a mess as you can once its dry wet n dry the area and polish it to blend in

The everdure is the important step here. It is very thin and will actually wick into the ply before hardening, thus forming a physical barrier inside the wood against water ingress and there for rotting.
