Used Mossies - 06/16/13 10:25 AM

Hi All,

At Rye interest in the Mossie is growing after some great work around the club with training and also people getting into Mossie sailing. The problem with further growth of the Rye Mossie fleet is the current dearth of good second hand boats.

If anyone is looking to sell their boat or you know of a decent second hand boat for sale can you let me know and I will put you onto the people I know are keen to find a good boat to get into the class with.

My email is nicmaan@optusnet.com.au

Happy sailing!!!

Hi Nick, I sent you an email earlier this week. Check that it didn't go straight to anti-spam. I have my old Mozzie for sale since I have upgraded at the end of this season.

Hi Nick,
I also sent you an email re my Mossie for sale: Hagar 1714. The details of the boat are on the national website.
Also Doug from Rye SC was in Adelaide and took a look at the boat - I'm sure he can pass on his impression of the boat to other club members if they wish.

Cheers,
Rob

Thanks Rob,

Much appreciated. I have chatted with Doug about the boat and have also passed the details on within the yacht club.

Best regards.

Hello Peter,
Hopefully Tim from my yacht club got hold of you today so that he and I can have a look at your boat Saturday morning before I disappear back to work for 5 weeks. Tim is a new sailor who wants to sail with his young daughter, so I will be interested to see what he thinks.
I offered to come to give some support and point out common mozzie weaknesses, but since you pretty much just rebuilt the front end of yours there shouldn't be a problem.
My number is 0427 947 330 if you have any queries. Will be nice to get another family involved in mozzies though

Hi Luke,

Tim and his daughter "Charlie" came over on Sunday and picked up "Out of the Blue". I spent an hour and a half rigging it up and showing them some of the finer points of rigging a Mozzie.

The old Mozzie certainly looked good cool with a matching jib from Spirit of Somers now re-named Macka Mozzie. laugh Looks like I will have to come over to Rye for a visit next season. blush

Regards,

Peter

p.s. I even had to update my sign-in and image.

Hey that's great news Peter. The Rye fleet is growing!!!!

Just need a second hand foam boat now if anyone has one? Around the $7-10k mark.

Nice work Peter. Thanks for giving Tim a hand on rigging. Him and his daughter are keen and both very nice- a welcome addition to the swarm. Hopefully my new spinnaker pole went too as I have plenty of rigging to do for the new kite.

Re: Used Mossies - 07/09/13 11:54 AM

Hi Luke, Yep the spinnaker pole went too and was nicely piggy backed and firmly secured on top of the mast. cool I hope he doesn't forget to pass it on. laugh

I just couldn't remember how the jib set-up went. It is a 2:1 system with what looks like a barber hauler built in. I only ever used a 1:1 ratio. whistle Someone at the club like Gordon should be able to help Tim. smile

Re: Used Mossies - 07/10/13 02:31 PM

Cheers for that. Yes Gordon should remember as long as he has taken his medication. He has been guilted into fixing up his mozzie after all this talk of repair and boats. He is contemplating repainting his boat some garish colour like purple after he is finished.
