Hi Peter,

I'll be there on some Mossie or other, there are at least 3 that float sitting in sheds around Eagle Point that I am sure nobody will notice if I steal. wink

Peter... I'm still recovering from the emotional scar left by being the first person rescued by your new boat sick I recall spending rather a lot of time stuck in your lovely mud, mast first. I've got a clash with kids sporting commitments but at this stage I'm planning on making the Sunday.

Cheers

Re: 8th Vic Spinnaker State - 10/26/13 10:41 PM

So come on, we don't want to hear about who's not coming (understand you can't make it Matt and Tim's in England), but who is coming?

This weekend has offered some of the best spinnaker sailing ever in the past, great place to learn to go fast with your spinnaker and nice small fleet with short races (Sunday), keeps it all close. Prior to that you get to stretch your legs in the long race Saturday.

Can't beat the local hospitality either, make a long weekend of it, bring the family and enjoy the beautiful beaches and bush away from the crowds.

Re: 8th Vic Spinnaker State - 10/31/13 11:02 PM

Due to the weather forecast on Sunday which is predicted for 35kns winds and storms, the Mosquito spinnaka states has been postponed to a later date. The race on Saturday will still go ahead,so if you can make the saturday it shoud be a great day.

Hey Simon, not everyone posts on here, there are some old sleep mossie sailors that don't embrace such high tech stuff, give you a hint PWS wink , was also attending.

But if you really want to improve your position in the fleet at the cat champs, why don't you see if one of those A classes that just sit around in the yard is available for me to sail? grin save me stealing a Mossie from Eagle Point. laugh Gary at Petes place.

Re: 8th Vic Spinnaker State - 11/01/13 11:17 AM

I'd have settled for fourth!.... I think all boats are spoken for for the Cat Champs Gary ..... Do you want me to ask around tomorrow?
Posted By: Petern

Re: 8th Vic Spinnaker State - 11/01/13 10:53 PM

Hi Simon,

thanks for the offer of asking, was just kidding, but if somebody was game to lend me a boat and Insurance etc was all ok, I guess I would be up for it.

Anything to help improve your finishing position. wink

Gary (still at Petes place).

Re: 8th Vic Spinnaker State - 11/04/13 09:25 AM

Good call by Peter N on postponing the spinnaker states,

Had a great long distance confused sail on Saturday, Karma Cat was flying on awesome flat water and wind gusting to 20 knots, only problem was it was too fast cry, with lots of reaching and only took 90 minutes cool .

But big wind frown came in even earlier than expected by 6am sunday and kept going all day. But it wasn't all bad, I got back to Paynesville and had a great sailboard grin , using the smallest sail I have a 4.5m on my old narrow board, it was awesome and out of control at times crazy.

Re: 8th Vic Spinnaker State - 11/28/13 07:58 AM

Hi All,

I'll obviously second Gordon's note.

It looks like we will have a full compliment of volunteers for the Sat and Sun with the canteen operating and the upper deck is one of the best places on the bay to watch the racing and socialise, the rigging area is great and the beach really nice too. There will likely be a BBQ operating for dinner on Sat night and there is a beer fridge with the "honesty box" operating for the thirsty souls.

This Sunday looks like being great conditions at the club as well so a warm up could be in order ???? There are two races on Sunday with the first starting at 1330hrs.

Really looking forward to seeing as many Mossies as possible at the club on the 14/15th as possible (those without kites too!!!!) to show off a great class.

Re: 8th Vic Spinnaker State - 12/09/13 07:30 AM

Thats OK Simon, as long as your'e not laughing yourself silly wink.

So question for anybody that knows, what is the set up at Rye? If I get down on Friday, can you get access to the rigging area? Is there a overnight lock up area? etc. I have alot of rigging up to do still with this boat.

Re: 8th Vic Spinnaker State - 12/09/13 07:56 AM

Gary,
If you get in contact with Gordon he should be able to let you in or organise someone who will let you into the yard. There are external power points for work and video cameras for surveillance overnight, so should be pretty safe there. If you are really lucky Gordon will hang around chewing your ear off as he drinks and watches you work. He is an old hand at watching others work now.
His place is also a short walk away if you need tools or a bench.

Re: 8th Vic Spinnaker State - 12/09/13 08:01 AM

You can also leave your trailer locked up in the car park if you have a tow ball lock. There are gates so you can back it into the yard to unload, but the trailers have to be taken out again when you are finished.
There is an honesty fridge for beer or space for your own, and Gordons key will also get you into toilets and showers. Give me or Gordon a call if you have any further questions/queries.
Luke.

PS. Sailing on Lake Macquarie the average temperature each day is about 28. Just saying.

Re: 8th Vic Spinnaker State - 12/16/13 05:19 AM

It was hard work at the back of the fleet following a swim in race 1. However a few pointers from Neil late on Day 1 meant a significant improvement in performance and a much better day 2. It is amazing how much you can improve in two days when you put the effort into a regatta like this. Thanks again to all involved. smile
