State Titles - 01/23/14 10:51 PM

Hi All,

I know Nationals are only just finished but the weekend for the States is barrelling up quickly. Can someone please confirm where the Vic States will be held this year.

Many thanks.

Hi Ross,

yes and you better be there, after all that practice at those west Vic country regattas, it's time to get serious again. wink

Hi Gary,
Yep, 1 regatta for the season, with that much practice, I should be in good form!

Accommodation booked! Looking forward to it after not being able to do the Nationals. Think I'm going to miss the Kite though... haven't had it off all season and I've become rather fond of it. smile (despite the swims! crazy )

As usual when things go quiet on the forum, it's probably because people are madly peddaling away in the background trying to organise things and sometimes they are not getting answers as quick as they would like whistle.

But whatever happens all Mossies will be welcome at Portarlington, State Titles or not. Hope to see you there Peter. smile

Hi all,

well looks like the Vic Sloop States are on the Anzac weekend 26/27th April at Rye. NOR for Sloop and Cat Titles will be out as soon as all info recieved from clubs.

Don't worry if you have the wrong configuration of Mozzie, cats and sloops will be welcome at both events, the more the merrier. grin

But only Cat Rig State Title available at Portarlington and only Sloop Rig State Title at Rye.

The Notice of Race and Entry Form for the Portarlington Mk1 State Titles are now on the Mozzie website. It's taken a while to finalise everything this time with the change of venue for the Mk2s, so apologies for the late arrival of the documentation.

mmmmm

maybe I should bring the boat and leave the camera behind

wink

decisions decisions decesions...... crazy

Questions:

1:
if I run the camera gear option, is there any chance of getting on one of the committee or safety boats
(happy to assist the crash crews, not that they'll be needed judging by the wind forecast) shocked
Camera gear can easily reach out to 1km from the shore but nothing beats being in the thick of the action wink

&

2:
if I bring down Twice Shy can .....

a/ it be measured one the day ?
b/ I pay my association membership on the day and race as a full competitor ?
c/ I race it even without items 'a & b' and if so how would that work ?
d/ I see there's a Heavyweight (65kg+) class, Twice shy would easily qualify for that and then some blush but how does that work ???? separate starts or all in ???

now that I have a leave pass on the w/end .... just toying with a couple of ideas as to how n when

cool

Hi Kingy,

I have no authority what so ever, but I will have a go at answering your questions , its always good to get numbers on the water and you will enjoy yourself so....

Its not ideal to get your boat measuered on the day, but you never know, (if you win I am sure your boat will be measured),

I expect someone would take your membership money off you, because I don't believe you can race and be counted if you are not a member.

The 65kg + have always been part of the normal racing, they can get a place in the whole fleet and then there place in the 65kg+ category (although looking at the entries you may want to round up a few of the older boats to come and play)

Kingy,

What Ross said smile

It's about the fun as well as the racing.... most of us ran out of "sheep stations" some time ago.

You'll get measured if you start winning things I'd imagine but it will be worth the trip for you even if you come stone motherless last as I did for my first few. You'll learn heaps and get lots of (sometimes conflicting LOL!)advice. Most importantly, you'll have fun with like minded people sailing the best 16 footer going around.

See you there.... and that's an order!

I have just as much authority as Ross laugh

smile

edit:
Sorry guys, I'm out, mrs has been called into work (short staffed) so I'm looking after the kids..... you'll be racing before I get there...
